Re: More rumors on a new BB set.
Here is one I heard, when the guys were setting up for the NAF champ in the morning a GW gimp was helping them. When they ask him for some more boards he said yes I'll get them, they are in the developmental room...arr i meant the store cupboard. Then he got really cross with himself as if he'd let out a secret or something. Twice he called the wrong room that the boards we're in saying that they where in the developmental room and both times he got mad with himself. Now it might mean the guys that dream up the space marine crap have half a brain and play BB on their break. It could all be BS. lets hope it's not.

Semptember is the Black Box release.Let us see what it is,The newest thing is that it is a Man o War knock off.But here is some fuel for the fire. The High Elf team is currently sold out on the GW site. Along with a bunch of others that are probably slated for finecast. So this is the magic Question, Is the Specialist range going to have anything to be releassed in finecast.

Say no to Finecast BB teams. They get handled so much more all those details between the casting faults will get broken off

Reckon the two overtly obvious tongue trips were just elaborate misleadings. If I was a GW gimp with any idea of how fanatical BB fans are about their game, I would LOVE to come up with a joke like that and manage to keep a straight face.

Re: More rumors on a new BB set.
Finecast makes sense for Blood Bowl
How many current figures are there 100-125
the "resin" cost literally pennies verses .40-.50 (or more for a fig (the price of metal does not look like it is going to go down any time soon))
Same casting time and the mold is cheaper
You make the mold using already cast metal figures
So for the 125 figures you invest a few thousand getting molds made ect, then cast away FAR FAR cheaper than the metal figs aka more profit
especially if you tie it in with a big hoohaa event (like a "25th" anniversary black box) $8 a fig x 11 figs = $88 so you sell the new team box (less some positionals have 1 blitzer instead of 2 to sell the other one for $8) For $60-$65. The Box set with 2 teams in it (again plastic human and orcs (wheel already invented)
Did you notice CRP as no fluff or Artwork .... hmmm why is that
Re-work the rules take them off line and put them in a new box set
A board with a different layout (maybe even put the dugout on the board)
thinking about it and all the purchases of Blood Bowl, the increase of Blood Bowl on eBay (from a tad over 200 to a tad over 1400 in about a year on any given day, the skyrocketing number of NAF members, tournaments, event patrons.
The continued popularity of LE and soon huge sales of the Card Game (based on the ration from CON)
Some one with a few grand budget over at SG could make it happen
Finecast: I am WAY WAY reserved almost anti finecast .... but I would be willing to buy ONE AND ONLY ONE to feel it, "taste" it, smell it, and paint it, use it in play and then throw it into a wall to see how I like it
If it passes my test then I could convert for FC

I have found finecast to be pretty robust so far... (touches wood)Heff wrote:Say no to Finecast BB teams. They get handled so much more all those details between the casting faults will get broken off

Re: More rumors on a new BB set.
I'll probably get some kind of DE beast to use as the Underworld Troll. Fiend of ... whatsitsname.
That will probably be the only fincastmodel I'll ever buy. I've red too many horror stories about bad casts, or even melted models (no, not just in cars).
Sure, I dont believe all I read on the web, but I like figures to have some weight, or be sturdy. Preferably both. I dont know if finecast-models are.
And they dont come cheap either, so they better be good. So far, from what I have seen IRL (metal vs finecast), I am not convinced. I havent seen a huge leap in 'better details' and all that.
But a new BB-box would be cool.

With the Hobbit coming out next year, I can see a large boost in sales for GW through LoTR. With any luck Specialist games will get some of the money before it disappears.

Hmmm, finecast gives you wood......okPenwaaagh wrote:

The "problem" with finecast (or resin in my experience) is that your average model in a fantasy army gets put on a movement tray, slid about a big table, maybe taken off once per battle then put away. BB models by the nature of the game get moved, laid down, rolled over (Hey, mine do..) and then stood up loads of times per game.
Ive found my resin models (specifically Micheline from goblinforge) are quite fragile, I use a marker when they're prone, if finecast is not so "robust" then Im gonna need a load of markers!!
As for Specialist games getting money....Hey go to the next GT (if we can call it that

Anybody got an metal High elf team to trade before the market gets flooded with "Finecast Elves" ?

Re: More rumors on a new BB set.
I’ve found metal models really fragile for playing BB. If they are multipart then the bits break off very easily and even with a heavy coat of varnish they quickly chip.
Haven’t had much chance to try out the new resins yet, will probably wait till they sort out the casting issues and some of the new models come out that make the most of the new material. Personally I have always liked plastic the best as it’s easier to work with, forms a stronger bond with the right glue and chips a lot less easily. Plus it weighs less so is easier to lug about.

Re: More rumors on a new BB set.
You clearly need Loctite Attack (sorry about the advertising). That's the glue I use and I've had no problems with multipart figs' limbs falling off. Only fig I've had come apart was Morg, he was in two pieces when I opened my box after 13 years in the fall of 2009. Can't remember what I'd glued him together with.spubbbba wrote:I’ve found metal models really fragile for playing BB. Paint chipping is a bit of a problem with metal figs, but I don't mind giving my figs some new paint here and there every now and then.

Re: More rumors on a new BB set.
Am I the only person who is hoping GW don't release any BB stuff? Maybe a one-off, Space Hulk type boxset re-release thingy-ma-bob... Maybe... But do we really want GW to start poking around in Blood Bowl again? Do we want official hardback team codex's which are re-hashed and re-released every year or so? Do we really want rules 'updates' forcing us to download FAQ's every five minutes? Do we want the 40k/Warhammer type of 'team creep', where every new team released is uber-powerful and introduces new rules which have to be trumped by the next release? Do we want the market flooded with dodgy looking resin models? Do we? Do we?
If that Games Workshop comes poking it's nose in around here... Well... There'll be trouble I tell yer!

Re: More rumors on a new BB set.
New boxed set and some mini support would be great.. if they try to monkey with the rules too much it could be problematic but if the increase in merchandise traffic and tourney scene is what is prompting them to reinvest, could they be so stupid as to redo the rules enough to damage that?betterZthenDeaD wrote:Am I the only person who is hoping GW don't release any BB stuff? I'm sure they'll milk it, and may pull down the 'free' crp packet if they rerelease a rulebook.. if they do a codex type book it would likely be all the teams (ALL 21 of them

Honest worst case i see is lots of stuff we can buy or ignore to support our game.

Re: More rumors on a new BB set.
I agree, unless it is a one-off release similar to Space Hulk, GW support for Blood Bowl would probably be the worst thing for the game.betterZthenDeaD wrote:Am I the only person who is hoping GW don't release any BB stuff?
