With this item its because there is a weight limit on sending things overseas by royal mail and htis may well exceed it.
However more genrally speaking ebay wise, its too easy for buyers to make a paypal claim of non delivery if you dont send by signed post, and things get complicated when you have to obtain signatures from countries that may or may not have agreements with royal mail (For example italy is one counrty i simply will not post to).
