Re: List of NAF dice colours
I painted white on the symbols of my black dice. They look great. It's the only good thing I own.

Re: List of NAF dice colours
What would stop someone now from painting up a normal set of block dice with mat black spray paint and handpaint the inlay with dull gold and sell them on ebay as originals? Theoretically, someone paying $100+ for a set of dice would keep them locked away somewhere and not use them for regular playing (therefore no chance of the paint wearing off after much use).
It would be too produce fake black "original" dice and you could only be sure if you were an NAF member yourself and could check the seller's NAF number.
Producing another set of black NAF dice would actually devalue the black dice which would be a good thing. Black dice being common place would satisfy the demand and no one is going to want to pay $100 for black dice when they can get them from the NAF for $10 (and if they wanted gold as the inlay colour they could paint it themselves). So who would care (other than the die-hard collectors, who I'm sure already have their own original set or two) whether the black dice were originals from 8 years ago or new ones as they are both black.
The NAF never intended for the dice to be "collectables", they were a bonus to encourage people to pay for (or renew) a NAF membership. If they were thinking farther ahead, they should've kept the black block dice as the first time bonus when anyone bought their NAF membership and had other trinkets for renewing each year (maybe NAF keychains, or whatever).
Anyway, I suppose it doesn't really matter (though I won't change my opinion), as the NAF has stated they won't redo any colours.
So if someone really wants a set of black block dice, instead of paying $100+ for a set, just do as I mentioned above and paint up a pair for yourself. What difference would it make? Black is black. (I thought metallic coloured dice would be cool, co painted up my own set of metallic gold dice).

Heck you could probably find a company to produce the dice for you that wouldn't be aware those images belong to GW.Colin wrote:What would stop someone now from painting up a normal set of block dice with mat black spray paint and handpaint the inlay with dull gold and sell them on ebay as originals? Seeing as how they are going for silly money now (£70+ for 3 dice

GW will and can sue any company for everything they own if they would produce those dice.

Are the NAF dice from GW or/and from NAF? Is it the task of GW or the task from GW to make sure that the NAF-dice aren't made by someone else?frightcrawler wrote:ignorance of the law is no excuse.

NAF dice come from GW.

If the NAF does black dice again, I may think about quitting. My member number is 154 and I take pride in being around from the beginning... and having the dice to prove it.
Also, your solution solves nothing. The blue dice have gone for $80+ before. Should the NAF re-do that color too?

Re: List of NAF dice colours
Having the black dice proves nothing, as the get sold on ebay from time to time (possibly to non-NAF people).
As you pointed out, your NAF number is what shows how long you've been a member. (not owning the black dice)
Mine is 249, so what? Doesn't make me any better than someone with a 4 digit menbership number. Your attitude comes off as a bit arrogant.
Anyway, the NAF said they won't do any more black dice, so no need to get hostile toward me for stating my opinion.
I think the NAF dropped the ball. The black dice were the most popular and should've kept them, maybe changing the inlay colour each year until people got tired of black and wanted something new. Yes, dark blue was also popular, but won't see that again either. Nothing can be done about it now, but I can still express my opinion on it without getting flamed.
I'm getting tired of block dice and think the NAF should try something else as a bonus for joining or renewing, but as some people look at the dice as "collectables", offering them is probably seen by the NAF as the best way to get people to keep joining and renewing.
Kinda surprised GW is still letting them use the block dice as a membership bonus, considering the crack down on IP about a year or so ago.
But anyway, I've gone on too long, some people think having all the dice is great, doesn't matter to me so much (only need so many sets of block dice, that's why I'm selling a bunch of mine).

Re: List of NAF dice colours
I did not find anything hostile about his message. He is not stating that he his any better then others by cause of his number.
I can understand that some have no interest in collecting dice and other bloodbowl related stuff, BUT others have to understand that there are collectors too.
When you state you are a collector, it often is seen as a bad word but collecting stuff is a part of the game. In many games, company's make a lot of money when there game comes collectable.
Being a collector or not put things in different perspective. A collector want their stuff to be rare. A NOT collector does not care and whant everything open for everybody for cheap price. A good example was the goblin weather set from impact.
This is the same for the black set of block dice. They were the first and are rare. They go a lot of money now. Redoing the black set, in any color inlay, is indeed putting of the collector who takes pride in searching for the black set, or being there from the beginning.
For example: You do not give away the naf shield (for winning a tournament) free by a new subscription.

Re: List of NAF dice colours
Black dice all cool. But to me as a collector and a gamer, I find all NAF dice exciting and would like to get them at some point. I see the cost of NAF black dice high because of their rarity, not because of the actual colour in them.
If black as a colour was somehow superior, it would not be too hard to produce black dice with slightly different images or maybe design a new, more awesome scheme altogether by a custom dice company. Is there really not such a product available already?
It would be madness to produce exact copies for mass release. GW does have the Collectors's line of re-released figures and there are a lot of guys selling them in Ebay without mentioning that they are brand new... That puts me off.

If these were made with inverted colours?

I'd probably buy a set. I love the design. Already have two sets, one in white, one in crystal blue.
Don't think it's Impact! who had them made though. Might be Nerostino.

Those are pretty good. But I would make some changes, like make the skull a bit smaller, the exclamation point more cartoony and the uneven exploding image more appealing, some way or another... the graphic design is a delicate business.Thadrin wrote:If these were made with inverted colours?

The GW/NAF dice have the best images so far. If I was to make and sell dice, I would get a pro guy who has experience on one-color images to design the stuff. It could make a lot of difference.

I am arrogant. That's why I'm Main Guy.

Seriously tho... my intent wasn't hostile. But it goes in line with the whole "collector" idea that Magictobe presented.
Does my low NAF number mean I'm better? Obviously not.. take a look at my NAF records. I suck. But is it wrong to be proud of being with the NAF from the beginning?

Re: List of NAF dice colours
Couple of short points:
Yellow dice have blue inlay - anything else was re painted by someone.
As for Black dice.... in "my time" I have always felt something new rather than dig up from the old was good. If you do the same again, you are kind of going over old stuff. Colin, I think we talked about that in Amsterdam many years ago. I took your point then and I do now, but going backwards isn't always a good thing.
Old dice: I do not know of any Black, Pink, dark Blue left of the old dice unless staff have failed to return them to me. They were all made in low numbers - well compared to what are done now.
And yes we are very much down the road of offering either new or more options for membership. I have the opinion that after X number of years, they are just more dice after all, how many do you need one could argue*. So we are talking to some manufacturers about alternative ideas but we have to consider global logistics and postal issues for a voluntary organisation. Ideas are plentiful, and sound great, but getting a process and delivery system implemented to the entire globe fairly, is something we have to make sure of.
*That opinion being said, we are still getting more members than the previous year, and all the new players seem to love the dice. We get more players saying "thank you" and "love the dice" than any other feedback.
