Etched brass would be alright, but plasticard letters don't really work as it's no longer a level surface to place tokens or miniatures on.

I'm going to try and make a set of hirst art tiles with sunken numbers ala Traveller's dugout and create a custom mold from them for further projects, but that won't help with this board. I'll think of something

would it work to take etched brass letter and make then into stamps?

heat them up a bit and stamp into styrene foam? Or will that melt more then necessary?

Re letterinmg and numbers, stencilit tank markings might be an option.
