Interesting idea, but how strong will the established teams be? Sticking a rookie team even with 6 skills vs a TV 200 team would be a huge nightmare for the rookies, that and having to bring along all the stars just in case.

As it’s progression maybe let the rookies re-set the team to their game 1 squad if they get destroyed as they probably won’t care about what happens after the tournament if they come just to play on that day.

I’ve long thought that mid or high TV progression tourneys would not only be a welcome change but also provide far a far more accurate indication of coaching ability than the standard low TV resurrection affairs.

There is already an event scheduled in London for that weekend, so it seems unlikely regardless of the rules.

Thanks for the reply Joemanji. Out of interest, would this every meet NAF?

hmm team ratings..The Open has been running for about 4 months now..Currently we are in the play offs before it restarts in mid March. Having a quick hunt around, the teams have TV's ranging from 171 on a Slann team all the way down to around the New Orc 115 ranking..Top ranking teams are about 160ish

We always have new players coming in mid season.. Its what the Open are all. The Series was designed to encourage scoring, so the the top teams are made up of Slann, Dark Elves and Humans, Elves, but one Orc did make the Play Offs (top 8); with the lower 8 maked up with block and bash... Some coachs play more than one team(not happening at this event)

My idea for the day is a bit of fun.. Doesn't matter if you have a new team or an experience team.. I'm hoping for a few new teams for the day.. say a 3 - 1 or even 4 - 1 ratio..I know some people won't field their experienced and pretty made teams for the fear of Deaths, so there should be a great deal more new teams than established teams.. All based on loads of new faces appearing on the day tho..

So if you fancy a new team, prepare to take inducements in star players.. Mercs, Cards or even give out some while your at it

You never know what rating you next match is.. pretty unpredictable.. pretty bloody..

Hope that answers your question in a long arounded way!

Sounds rather complicated really! 4 games in a day have to run tight to schedule and skilled/induced teams might slow games down.

I'm interested in one day events as I find it nearly impossible now to dedicate whole weekends to Bloodbowl.

@Joe, why shouldn't there be two NAF sanctioned Tournaments on the same weekend. If there is a regional crowd who want to attend, or people too busy for a two day event, or simply can't afford to travel and stay in hotels any more, then why not?

Always been a NAF guideline IMO. Plenty of weekends available in the year, why should one tournament be able to "steal" another's weekend? If there is a large enough distance it is fine (for example Swindon / Newcastle have been authorised on the same weekend). Pearlies is the other tournament, and London / Bristol are way too close.

A large tournament could pitch up on the established weekend of a smaller one and simply "put it out of business". For example if Waterbowl moved to the weekend of a small tourney ... bye bye small tourney.

There are arguments for and against this standpoint, but it has been much discussed in philosophical depth rather than just plucked out of the air. I agree with it and it and will continue AFAIK.

The event is rather complicated.. can't pretend otherwise.. It seem to work with 12 players back in October.. But that was with people I knew in Bristol..

The times have been reduced as we finished earlier than expected in the first attempt.. I'm flexible with times so long as people have fun..

I'll be there. I reckon I may have acquired a Dark Elf team and have it painted in time to roll a new team for this event.

Probably good for this, however....
1. Whats the parking like (Brizzzzzol is a pain to park in)
2. is the venue wheelchair friendly ? (thinking Canteloup)
3. Would you allow teams from Swindon's league (on stuntyleeg) to attend, or do just the local players get "a Boost" ?

Bristol parking is a pain.. Caboot Circus is down the road is available and their are 'other places as well' which can mean a bit of a trek..

As for Canteloup; the ground floor is wide open.. Their is suppose to be an lift to the 1st floor. However the toilets are in the basement. My only suggestion I can come up with is access the pub access the road I guess? I will find out more from the store owner unless you want to drop hmm a line?

As your own league teams that could make things a little interesting.. Speaking to some of the guys, local, they are looking at keeping their league teams 'safe' and introduce something for the day.. My initial reaction is no, but the mad side of me saids yet.. It could get very messy, I would like to take the time to look into this?

I'm going to rank peoples names with whether or not they are submitting a new team or not to give an idea of this event.

But it does give you the excuse to do a little big guy killing with your goblins Glow

You'd think you'd know it by now!

Happy to give your gobbos a boost by playing my pact. Either a boost, or a darn good kicking! Sorry not to be able to make this, but am on stage twice that day, and the rest of the cast would be sad 8)
