Perhaps not fully on-topic in regards to the tournament itself, but...
longfang wrote:Just need to find where the decent coffee shops are!
As this was on the frontpage of the morning newspapers in Amsterdam, the Dutch government wishes to implement a system where one would be required to own a weed pass in order to visit a coffee shop on a national level. (Right now, only Limburg uses this system). The idea behind this is that it would regulate the use of weed and gives the owners of the coffeeshops a clearer view of whom their customers are... However, this also means that visitors from abroad can be banned from the coffeeshops due to not having such a pass, resulting in the tourism industry in Amsterdam having serious issues with this, as many visitors from abroad do come due to the easy access to coffeeshops. With their annual revenue of about five billion euros, you can understand the fear for loss of income.

At the moment, it remains to be a question as to whether (and when) it'll be implemented, but it most definitely is a big discussion point at the moment...

Pfffttt... with the current government, either we have elections again then, or they are too divided to pass any law. So no worries.

Unlike the Belgians, yes it looks like that.
But that's probably the only good thing about them :/

Anyway, btt: IF I can manage it (painting and converting) I'll take Ogres. Otherwise CP stands.
If there was a possibility for Goblins to take bribes and/or Flings to take the MasterChief I'd use one of those.

But alas.

Will look at hotels for the next DO but thinking it would be no hassle to stay in Amsterdam and get the train to Utrecht both mornings. That way we get decent accomodation, huge choice of restaurants, bars and coffee shops and places to watch the superbowl (if its that weekend?)
So who's in?
FYI: I stayed at the Kilim Centre Inn the last time I was in Utrecht, about 15 mins walking distance from the Korenbeurs iirc. They have single rooms for 50 € per night and double rooms for 60 € per night (so 30 € p. p.) which where clean and tidy. The only downside with them was that they did not answer any of my emails ;-) But booking via hostelworld.com worked perfectly.
Are any arrangements made? I'm looking for room to split costs?

Just sent the following out to those registered...
Hello there coaches!

You have all registered for the Dutch Open Bloodbowl in Utrecht. I would like to bring de definitive timetables to your attention. As some of you know we were hopiing to make this years edition a 6 game event, but it turns out it is not possible to get the venue to open earlier on sunday, so Hurray for sleeping in!

So we'll be playing 5 games, 3 on saturday and 2 on sundays.

Timetable:
Saturday February 5th:
10:00 Venue Open - Registration
11:00 Match 1
13:30 Match 2
16:00 Match 3

Sunday February 6th:
11:00 Venue Open
11:30 Match 4
14:00 Match 5
16:30 Awards

A note for people coming by car: You can park on the Jaarbeurs Parking P3. This on the rear of the venue (they even have an entrance there).
A card to exit the parking can be bought at the venue (I think it costs 5 euro that way and I also believe you can leave your car there overnight if you wish to do so, but having never come there by car I might be off slightly).

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or Mark (Draco).

See you there!

Cheers,
mepmuff

Still not decided if I go with Chaos Pact, Chaos Dwarves, or Gobs though. It depends on if I can finish the minis this weekend probably...

This is my first time attending any organised Blood Bowl event, apart from a team and beer tokens what else should a coach bring with him?

Bring a team and your team roster. Bringing a board, dice and templates can be useful as well, but I haven't seen any tournament where there was a shortage of those :D

Oh, and if you can please attend fully dressed, that will be very much appreciated... :orc:

We thought this was Dutch Nudist Bowl! It'll be a big let down to the coaches travelling with me that we have to wear clothes.

Who will be at the Korenbeurs on friday evening? I will drop by between 10 pm and 11 pm depending on how long it will take to get from the airport to the hostel.

Would be cool to see some of you guys there :-)
