Yeh, I am really just a perfectionist. And I was focusing on the negatives (because that's how you improve)
I actually really LOVE the armour + leather I did (the coppery colour I made came out awesome). I also experimented a lot with them right from the get go (hence why some of them look like I painted crap on them

). I also did the fire stuff because the team was pretty plain, and being an engineering/IT minded guy, I was happy with how they came out.
Also, I only have the prime colours + green, white, silver and black, so every paint there is a mix (the only one that was straight was red, it was originally mixed, but it was too much effort for not a great result).
I did improve a fair amount, and the feedback I have been getting on the completed models makes me confident enough to start on a team I actually care about

(
These guys just arrived, they will be High elves, and double up as Humies!). I'm thinking of trying to try out something more advanced like a gradient of colour with the top of the armour a darker blue and slowly moving down to a light blue at the bottom of the armour. A "regal" purple for the detailing, and the feathers on their heads will be different colours dependent on their position.
My fine details became 100 times better though, check out the first model I painted (my undercoat was also really too thinned, and only did one coat, and I made so many mistakes there was so much rubbing that a lot of the paint rubbed off lol)
When I did this, it was like my greatest pride and joy, I looked right past its flaws because I never thought I could paint anything as good as this! now I look on it as garbage.
He received a few touch ups, and he's still my favourite because a) he was my first

, and b) cause his flames are the best flames on all the minis.
I think I'd be happy with them if I redid all the skin on all of them, and then based them (something I have to learn now

).
P.S. I apologise for taking over the thread! I'm happy for a mod to split these posts off!
