I really hate f***king stalling
I don't care if it's a tactic or not. I don't care what team you're playing and what team I'm playing. Just score already. If not, you're a wankle if you're in England and you're a jackass if you're in the U.S.
Seriously.
Rant over. As you were.

Re: I really hate f***king stalling
Stalling keeps highlighting the position mistakes or risk you've taken.
Some people don't like to be reminded that they've taken too much risk or got plain unlucky. The opponent stalling remind them every turn what just happened and the fact that they don't pose a threat to the ball carrier highlight their problem.
At the end of the day stalling is punishing you every single turn you don't blitz the ball carrier and bask the stall-er in his mighty glory. I have met players who find it difficult to be reminded for 3 turns in a row how perfect the attack went, and how they don't stand a single chance to score once the ball will be handed back to them because they won't have time to score.
I'm a staller and when things go well and I can get my whole saurus team in a screen protecting my skink close to the TD line, I either got really lucky or something went awfully wrong for my opponent, like a first action turn over.

Re: I really hate f***king stalling
Stalling is really dependent on my mood - if I am playing a tournament, I am more likely to stall, but if I am playing a league game, or a one of friendly, I just score and set up again. Again, if I am playing against a good mate, then I am likely to score and keep the game moving - we're playing for fun after all. But when you're playing for a trophy - all's fair in love and war.
If I am stalled against, I don't get upset with my opponent, as I clearly haven't played well enough. If I cannot pressure the ball carrier, then I try to make it as expensive as I can for my opponent by ganging up on any players available, and fouling every turn to "encourage" the TD.
There's no point getting angry with your opponent if they can stall - you either needed better luck (usually the opinion of poor players like myself) or you should have just simply played better to begin with !
Seriously, if getting stalled against isn't your cup of tea, then either BB isn't your game, or perchance you should make sure your opponent never has the opportunity to do so.

Iam not a fan of stalling , but I see its purpose , like was said before if its a tourny I think you shouldn't complain about it just learn how too defend against it . But if its friendly or a league with friends I can see it getting stupid real fast .

Perhaps you should look at changing how you defend to prevent stalling?

I don't mind stalling. I've done it and have had it used against me. If I can't put enough pressure on the other coach so that he'll score quicker then I don't blaime him.

But this is stupid. You're basically saying that people shouldn't try and win with dwarves, orcs etc in league matches. Specially when they are playing elves who can score at will.slann wrote:Iam not a fan of stalling , but I see its purpose , like was said before if its a tourny I think you shouldn't complain about it just learn how too defend against it . I literally can only ever remember 3 times where I received and didn't score as wood elves when receiving (and it's never an issue to score in 2 turns), 2 from intercepts, and one from a double 1's catch, where my opponent was dark elves, ran in and threw a long bomb to a guy in a tackle zone, and I cried...
I've even had matches where my opponent was stalling for obvious reasons, and I was able to win the match because I managed to do a hugely risky 2 dice against me chain push to get the opponent into the TD zone and give me 2 turns to score (not that welves can't score in 1 turn if need be).

Re: I really hate f***king stalling
If I'm facing a fast team with a slow team ie. dwarves against skaven, then stalling is a great way to keep their speed from being a factor in the game. I box the ball in and move it slowly down the field. This has even worked as a mind game a few times since the coach of the faster team's gottenn frustrated 'cause getting to the ball carrier becomes a chore. Frustration usually leads to misstakes and going to half time with a 1-0 score is great with a dwarf team. That means you can stall the entire second half and still walk away with the win.
Going into half time down by a TD or two with a slow team is really frustrating since they're not going to bounce back into the game fast. I usually need about 5 turns to scorre with my dwarves since my runners haven't aquired the pass skill yet. Once they get pass I may get away from the stalling tactics a bit.
Stalling is strategy, not teasing... Well, maybe it's a bit of both to be honest.

Re: I really hate f***king stalling
Which is incredibly helpful when you're playing orcs and for some freakish reason the pro-elves you're playing have killed two black orcs, seriously injured your thrower, and knocked out two blitzers and two lineorcs - all for your measly one KO to a nameless linelf.I really hate f***ing stallingPlay better then.
There is something annoying about stalling when:
* They're already winning
* There appears to be no good reason to stall, other than to spite you, or deny you a final attempt to gain some honour by scoring one touchdown in an otherwise 4-0 romp.
... so I'm not so quick to judge. Stalling can be bad sportsmanship - and in Oz it's often scored accordingly (and for me personally, if it's longer than two turns and you're not Khemri fair enough too).

Babs, if someone over commit without putting a single piece in defence, then when they could still blitz the ball carrier (mind you at risk) prefer to blitz somewhere else because they gave up on the ball, and you are safe close to their TD line... then this player deserves a 6 turn stall!!!Babs wrote:... so I'm not so quick to judge. All they're doing is blitzing and blocking your team (often stupidly) and have already surrendered this TD.
So let's look at it this way, the TD IS scored and it's the first half. Better you might even be receiving next turn... why risk fielding on the LOS and get 4 block in your face when you can wait for turn 8, score, then half time, then second grind...
And if they have KO player it's one less chance of them coming back!
It's being outplayed. It happens, and even if you're down to 2 guys on the pitch it's just what blood bowl is about. Most team can pull a miracle TD in 2-3 turns, so there is no reason to give these turns freely to your opponents.
This can still be friendly and you can empathise with your opponent talk about something else, still have a laugh and have a fun coach-to-coach game, but purely and simply trash him on the pitch, to the last one, and gang foul him in turn 16. It's not a problem for me, I don't expect my opponents to get the violins out and beg for some kind of mercy just to see them pull an impossible draw in their last turn.
