Re: PK&Q VII - London - 29th-30th May 2010 - Geggster Wins!
Back in Wales and both myself and Simon had a great tournament. I was pleased with a 4 win 1 draw 1 Loss Record for the weekend. The level of games was great. Bring it on again next year.
I need to stop giving away Cas though and score some more to help my standings, I think a team change is the way.

Heh. Paul's Saurus reminds me of the Blocker I got last year - Block/Tackle/Dodge/Stand Firm/ Guard. He annoyed the hell out of people IIRC.
I LIKE The random skill thing. Slight chance of brokenness, but less predictable choices.
Would have liked to have been there again, but work, money and no passport are kinda big hinderances.

Any other nice skill combinations show up? I don't really get a chance to see who had what, although there was a rat ogre with break tackle and juggernaut causing a bit of a stir.

Gutted to have missed it -looks like this year is going to be a crap one tourney-wise for me.

I don't mind the random skills though the rules really seem to suit teams that can cause damage
I think in every draw I got, I ended up with less points than my opponent
Also the win I got against firebreather where he beat my team up got way less points than someone who would have got a win against a team they beat up.
If i'd thought about this before the tournament I would have seen that taking undead or orcs would have been a better idea. Maybe that is why there were so many AV9 teams there ;]
Just looked at the cas chart, I got the lowest amount in the whole tournament! Maybe it was the effect of having net cas rather than just cas caused (I'd still not personally have done too well from that though)
something to think about for next year perhaps

Should have taken the Ogre.
Over the course of a tournament, maybe a bonus for net CAS balances out the fact that otherwise the scoring system favours wins by 2 or 3 TDs, which is something bash teams lack the speed to do in an even game. A very good result for Dwarfs vs WEs is probably 2-1, but vice versa its more like 3-0.

2 of my players managed to get 6/8 of my skills unfortunatly they were both snotlings
they had diving catch diving tackle one had sneaky git and the other Dauntless :S dont ask why
Hail mary pass was a good skill for a snotling also. had a great laugh looking forward to next year.

Thx for the vid Tom
@ Snottling with hail mary pass, saw this chap in action, was pretty cool.
@ the scoring system, this year the bonus casualties did no favours for the Elf, Human and Amazon teams. But over the years orc and dwarf teams despite being such popular choices have never managed to win (just 3 2nd places iirc), they just cancel each other out when they or and struggle to get bonus points for TDs. I might do something to reduce the impact of the bonus points for casualties although I want to avoid getting into the habit of chopping and changing the rules every year.

I see the results have been uploaded to the NAF website, however my team's race was put in as dwarves rather than chaos dwarves. Anyone know who I should report this to?

I didn't have any special combo's with my players, but my witch Elves were up to there usual tricks dodging in and out of cages that 5 up dodge PeteW mentioned about isn't so bad.
Although in my last game with the second half under way and the score 1-1. the ball in the orc cage, I managed a 5+ dodge into the cage 1 dice push to set up my other Witch to have 2 One dice blocks pushing into the patch on my Blitzer to pop the ball leading to the defensive score leaving my poor opponent wondering what went wrong. the game finished with a just result of 2-2

spot on again luke! great weekend. And well done to geggins and the other winners.
Re. random skills and scoring; neither are my preferred way of doing things but they are different from many other tournaments (especially the random skills) and that's what makes them fun. Being able to pick your own skills is balanced, but gets a little stale as the optimum skill choices have been figured out for a while now. Having a few skilled lineorcs running around is a nice change.
