I'd start with
2 blitzers
2 catchers
7 linemen
1 apo
3 RRs
Use a lineman as a thrower until you can afford a third catcher
Get kick asap & kick close to the LoS every time
Use linemen as blitzers, (wrestle, tackle) use blitzers as support (guard, Side step - after block and maybe dodge)
Make one or two killers (block, mb, po)
The Kroc is good, but you don't need one off the start

That's what I started with my first time (or maybe 4RR 0apo). Solid if you're not up against developed teams, but sensitive to turnovers because you have to block in order to push a few holes for the catchers. When you have the krox, you can sometimes force that hole without blocking, with careful positioning. And if you lose a blitzer or a catcher in the first half, you're seriously crippled.
I reckon that the blitzers develop well once there's a few linemen with Block to buffer them against targeted assaults. You need the MA7 players, so the blitzers are good, but they're expensive to start with. One krox isn't as good as two blitzers, but it is more robust, and WAY more intimidating. Blitzers are targets, the krox is the opposite. Plus the krox benefits more from a few early MVPs: the blitzers can earn their own when you finally buy them.

Don't worry about not taking the krox. It's there mostly for intimidation value: if you have 4RR you don't need to intimidate, you can just leap away over and over.
There are lots of options for slann these days. The kroot conversion that Impact! are facilitating are ready (or just about); there are frogmen from Reaper, Eureka and Impact!; and rolljordan is in the final stages of producing possibly the nicest frog team, due between April and July (apparently it's hard to pin these things down). I use the Reaper frogman warriors for my blitzers, Impact!'s limited editions for my catchers, and Eureka's marching band for me linemen. I'll be buying the rolljordan team when it comes out.
Search these forums for those keywords, you should have no problem finding the topics.
Meh, I searched them out for you.

The Reaper shaman converts to Lottabottol very well. I don't have a recommendation for Quetzal Leap.

I'm using the Reptiliads and just have a few more band members and sideline staff to paint to wrap them up. Even finished the team nameplate today: Frogtown Rockets. They're not really frogs. But they are from Frogtown, and they do have very long legs!
I just started the league with 4 Catchers, 2 Blitzers, 5 Liners, 3 RRs, and 10k. The 4th RR would have been very nice, but a pair of Jump-Uppers was too tempting. We're doing accelerated income for this league, so I had no problem affording the Doctor (the lovely stretcher-bearers) after the first game.
1 Blitzer got a normal skill after the first game. My first impulse is Side Step -- for all it's usual side-stepping delights plus enhancing the Diving Tackle ability. But I'm actually leaning more towards Block -- if I'm going to have any enforcers on the team, I might as well start developing that one first.

Re: The R'lyeh Summoners (Slann) - From go to woe (part 7)
You guys talk about giving a linefrog kick, but he can't use it on the line. With your final setup 4 blitzers, catchers, and a krox, your two linefrogs are going on the line. What are you sidelining, in exchange for the frog with kick, a catcher? Is kick worth losing that omnipresent pressure you can put on the receiving teams, with their easy leaps and dodges? Also, do you prefer to start the game kicking or receiving? Sorry for the bombardment of questions, or if this isn't the place for them, I saw two of the most prominent voices on Slann, Tom and Shawn in this thread and figured this would be as good a place as any.

You'll have to play a lot of games to get to that full roster. Especially since the best starting roster doesn't include any Blitzers. And even then you'll have injuries either before or during a game. Up until that point you're Kick Linerfrog will be awesome.

What Joe said. But I want to add that I don't encourage anyone to use more than 2 blitzers at all. They're expensive and their usability don't justify their cost. A developed team probably has good use for two blitzers but 4 just bloats the TV.Atomsk wrote:You guys talk about giving a linefrog kick, but he can't use it on the line.
