LRB 6 now officially exist. GW was never going to be the pushing force to move this game forward and encourage new coaches. That is the responsibilty of the BB community. And we get to choose the ruleset we play by, as always.

It is just nice that LRB 6 is now an official choice to play by even if it dosn't come in the best possible package. My only fear is the because they are stated as a 'Competition Rule Pack' that they may just as easily be pulled off as they were put up.

I wonder what Cyanide thinks now that their ruleset is neither the "official rules", nor even the "competition rules".

Frankly, GWs post at the front of those rules would make a lot more sense if LRB5 was the "official rules".

Wow. That is all I have to say. I had figured I'd leave this thread and move on. But after actually looking at this thing, I find myself unable to not come and bitch on a random forum. Can't say I ever remember something doing that.

My PDFs for alpha rules tests in Mordheim looked better than this. I'm so glad GW thinks pictures are wasting my money in a manual, and decide to tell me so. But leaves giant gaping holes where they used to be with no apparent reasoning for it. If this crap is what is considered the next step, I'm about to become one those crusty old LRB4 guys with my 5+.

Typo on the FAQ too.

Can I use Pro blah blah... Can you reroll Pro?
Yes you can. Ye,s but only in your turn.

I also like books that start on Page 5.

If my posts come off angry ... I'm not. I'm disappointed that GW felt the need to remove all the volunteers that created this document from it. I do think they should have had the decency to at least thank the folks that gave so many hours to bring them that document. That was something I was very careful to do with the credits ... I tried to make sure that anyone who direct sizeable contribution to what that document was got credited ... because its the right thing to do. Its what we did with Elfball ... its what should have happened with this document.

And there is what I've really been trying to say said more directly. I'm a little gun-shy that 8 years of work is now official listed as optional and only for cut-throat gamers. That doesn't have much a glow of permanent around it. I have to believe though that with 9 teams of pewter figurines not supported by LRB 1.0 they want to keep LRB 6.0 around. I really wish JJ had found different wording.

As I said .. I'm delighted / super happy / etc. that LRB 6.0 is up ... NOT angry. I'm disappointed that LRB 5.0 was up for 3 years with all that background and art and was good for everyone ... GW legal comes in and the elements that make BB so cool get hatcheted.

Its wild to me.

Thank you, Galak, and all the rest, for your monumental efforts over the years to make Blood Bowl game that it is today. I would have lost interest years ago if it hadn't been for you.

Let's face it. The only reason the "Living Rule Book" exists at all is because at some point enough of us wised up and stopped buying those rediculously expensive "annuals" and "compendia" every year, and GW felt that they had to maintain control of the game somehow.

OK, so GW has just set the clock back about a dozen years to avoid having to retool a game they couldn't kill off. So what? After the dust settles a bit, we'll just keep playing Blood Bowl with our friends using our favorite rules anyway. Who knows, maybe going back to the original "1.0" will let us get back to our roots, and reconnect with the fun and excitement that we experienced when we first started playing the game.

If nothing else, I can at least use my Deathzone "Special Play Cards" again with a clear conscience.

Uh, no.

I won't be attending any event where LRB1.0 is being played.

Good grief.

Whoo, back to version 2. Still got my red orcs and blue humans mostly unpainted.

Sneaking extra players onto the field when moving reserves in! Stunned players being taken off the field. Ha, had 15 players on the field after scoring a touchdown before my cousin noticed.

This unofficial status sounds like what SG did to all their games a few years back, even taking stuff from the 2002 annual and calling it now unofficial for lame reasons.

Followed immediately by your opponent surrounding your Wild Animal forcing you to lose a turn immediately from a 2 dice they pick block.

Yeah ... 1.0 ... now that was some fun.

However I'd be happy to go to an event that wants to run LRB 1.0. Halflings had a permanent Master Chef for 50k that could take on average the same number of re-rolls as the LRB 6.0 does. Flings could get 2 Ogres for 120k each and Deeproot for 180k. I had a winning record in my league with Halflings back in the 1.0 days ... because that was some balanced Blood Bowl.

And Bludbowler ... thanks for the kind words at the beginning. I'm just reading my LRB 1.0 Rulebook again to remember what those rules were and I keep thinking ... we came so far the last 8 years ... how the hell did we partially end back here ... oh yeah ... a lawyer got involved.

I want to point out to everyone ... that that document as slaughtered as it is ... its LRB 6.0 (with one typo for the Rat Ogre which I hope will soon be fixed).

So we have LRB 6.0 ... let's not lose sight of that. Its damn ugly ... but at least 6.0 is official ... all that work is not lost and that is a very good thing for Blood Bowl.

I'm sure GW was trying to get the document posted due to the upcoming GT and pressure by the BBRC based on pressure from the community.

We can only guess why the pretty LRB 6.0 wasn't posted ... but at least they posted LRB 6.0. So I see no reason to not roll on with LRB 6.0 for everyone.

A pretty document ... that MIGHT come later ... but at least we got the rules on GW's site. From here ... we do what we've always done ... we are a community and we stick together and we keep this game alive and growing despite what the owners of the game have handed us.

haha, it's not April 1, Granny Wendy, it's just your dementia... Now put the real rulebook up, and stop pretending it's optional. And optional extra 3 teams for an optional ruleset, this just gets more interesting. I don't think many people will be playing 'standard' BloodBowl

I might just opt to leave GW miniatures out of my cut throat gaming: I think they're annoying more people than they realise.

Galak, I'm adding credits to my copy, and I'll make sure you feature.

First tourney I ever entered, Cancon back in the 1990's, was won by a halfling team.

Everytime I look at the latest thing GW has done, I get even more flabergasted.. Sheesh.

But you can't change how beautiful the rules are during the actual art of playing the game itself.

That is where the beauty is most needed, when I am not looking at the rulebook (too often)

I would like all of Galak's hard typesetting and layout efforts as much as anyone. But it is playing the beauty of this rule set in the heat of battle that makes my heart sing.

Yeah, our league starts lrb 6 in February after our playoffs. I can't wait. I'm ready to choose diving catch with my Norse runner before I even start next season just so I have it for opening game. ...Oops wait. I meant Norse Catcher. Sorry Granny. :pissed:

Heh, Norse now have the toughest Catcher in the game.

Can't wait for Wud Elf players to start using him as a comparison as to why their catchers need Block/Dauntless.

I missed that name change. Maybe it's the small half pages the pdf has now.
