Now Pariah... here's an ideaPariah wrote: So if we can't get experimental weapon rules for amazons or norse because there are no minis, then how are we to test the rules to get the minis?
See? Stupid.

Why not make something up! I know, it takes a little time and energy (no more than what you already spend on BB, I'm sure.) Heck, make a list of really cool SW's and if the BB community loves them, then Fanatic would practically be forced to make figs for them.
Now the obvious retort would be "Hey, Neo, why did you do it..." but I've already answered that question. I was asked to make mechanics that would allow SW's to work. I used what existed to do that. We can build from here, assuming these rules pass play testing.
The article is more significant for the game mechanics it introduces and less for which teams got SWs.

Playing on the deck of a ship
@ GalakStarscraper
In the first post it says there is an article on rules for playing on the deck of an ship. I was wondering what that is? New field? Just different rules like sliding a couple of fields due to the waves, players throwing up due to sickness (and being put in the sick bay), ....

I see a big problem with the responses Neo's gotten here so far. Too many of them consist of "Hey, how come my X can't get a Y weapon?" whereas Neo has repeatedly expressed a willingness to modify the list and an interest in reviews of the MECHANIC.
The choices weren't based strictly on the minis available, though that had an influence. There's also play balance considerations (AG4 players with Chainsaws could be dangerous) and fluff considerations (High Elves would never used poisoned daggers), but the availability of miniatures is an important part of it. Nothing wrong with conversions, but there are a lot of these 2nd Ed. weapons floating around, and we wanted to give coaches who owned them the ability to use them within the game again.
Me personally, I'm all for giving Skeletons Chainsaws (2AG and 7AV is enough of a balancing factor for me) and Hobgoblins Poisoned Daggers -- both of those fit in the fluff well, and with plastic skeleton figures, chainswords, and Sneaky Git minis, they're easy enough to work in.
Ideally, though, we'd see some feedback like:
"I tried the rules and like them, but the cost for the chainsaw is too low. We saw too many teams taking them and the chainsaws caused a lot of damage before they were confiscated."
-or-
"I think the prices are good, but I'd like to see the roll for confiscation increased. While you're at it, X mini would work great for a Y weapon for Z race."

Hi Milo,
a few comments.
Good job!
I have no problem with not everyone getting a piece of the action.
You mention that AG4 and chainsaws probably is too good.
Can I just point out that bombs combined with passing skills (i.e. a dwarf runner) also quickly becomes problematic.
Bombs, on a good passer, almost gives a free blitz, rendering most defensive tactics "useless".
In my league, we considered letting bombing require a blitz action. That solved the problem.
BTW - I may have found a few typo's:
1) Ball and chain says to ignore traits. (but not racial characteristics).
Doesn't that mean that a B&C gobbo retains right stuff, and hence can be thrown downfield? (Holy flying doom batman).
Also
2) Pogo stick says to ignore racials but not traits.
Is it intentional that you can no longer TTM a pogoboy?

Good catch on the bombs & passing skills, Martin. We'll keep that in mind. Perhaps if we allow Bombs for Dwarves/Skaven/other races, we'll have to restrict which players can get access to them (or make a note in the weapon description that passing skills cannot be used with them. Imagine a dumping off player with bombs!)
I believe both of your assessments of the Fanatic and the Pogo Stick are correct, but I'll double-check on that with the rest of the guys.

Hi Milo,
sounds good.
One more thing. I don't have my BBmag5 with me, but as far as I recall, chainsaws do not remove racials.
That would mean that stunties with saws are still stunties. Nasty.
Or - wait - was there a rule somewhere that stunty can not be used with a secret weapon.........
Hmmmm....

Please...LINEMEN ONLY...it just makes sense. Removes most of the possible abuses.Milo wrote:Good catch on the bombs & passing skills, Martin. We'll keep that in mind. And the whole idea of Elves with chainsaws is just silly. The pointy eared scum would never want to get nasty icky oil on their best blood Bowl robes. Blood comes out with alittle cold water but oil? urgh.
I liked the look of the list as given, but give the amazons poisoned daggers and the Norse get Ball and chain loonies (or more accurately, berserkers with flails!). Hows that?

Hum... Sounds good for me with the informations from Milo... I can't blame Neo, not only because he's a buddy guy
but alos because I'd understand his point of view about rule/mini... Even if I'd say it won't make people conversions (IMO, it's a part of the hobby... But I should make a mistake here).
As for the BB Tournament rules, I just noticed that the last released teams (I mean Norse Amazons and Lizardmen, and maybe in some cases Khemri and Vampires) are forgotten here. I couldn't say it better than darkson, as I'm also a Norse coach
... Who won't have any stars for this tournament? Norse, and Amazons. Who can't have secret weapons? Still the same. I should understand it for lizardmen, for a lot of reasons (seeing a skink with a secret weapon as a real nightmare), but IMHO Amazons and Norse should be allowed to have secret weapons as Human teams. It would allow them to have some small specific players, btw.

Take a look at the Oberwald supplement for a very good starting point.neoliminal wrote:Now Pariah... here's an idea :?:

Did you guys consider using the normal Referee Roll instead of the penalty rolls?
If you want some weapons to have greater risk of penalties then you could just add a modifier. I don't like the idea of poison daggers being so easy to get away with while a foul is not. And speaking of daggers, I'm unclear on whether or not you gain spp for causing an injury with one. If you do this is a big, big big problem for me.
