What makes a rule official?
The Leader skill clearly states that it acts exactly like a team reroll. Why can you use a leader reroll for a big guy, but not a team RR? If they are used exactly the same, why don't they work exactly the same?

Specifically, a TRR represents the practice a team puts into working together. BGs don't get to use them. Leader RR allows that an exceptionally inspiring player is on the pitch and that encourages anyone to greater heights.
The do work exactly the same. The big difference is that you use a Leader Reroll counter vs. a Team Reroll counter. I guess this differentiates the two, making them different, as well as preventing anyone from being able to have more than one LRR. Acting like a TRR just means that it is treated the same in how it works, when you can use it... It implies that it is not a TRR because, if it was, it would just say the team receives another TRR if this player is on the pitch. They are clearly different from the skill description, just acting the same.
That's the theory behind it. I think.

Yeah, poor choice of words. The description does make it different from a fluffy standpoint though. After it sets all that up it just makes a statement that is works in exactly the same way. Everyone reads that as overriding the previous portion of the paragraph. This was never an issue before 4th ed and then the Big Guy characteristic. When they worded that, it seems they wanted to differentiate between the two or they might/would/should have said they can't use re-rolls of any sort. I know I'm supporting intent here and I hate that but it's what we've been told by those in the know over and over on this sublect. Now we just need them to change the wording of the skill or add a caveat in there about the Big Guys or something.

For your league yes ... for any league that I've played in during my life, this was not a rule change.Zombie wrote:If it said that it "acts the same way", i might agree, but it says that it "acts exactly the same way". This implies that it has the same restrictions. They changed the rule all right, and not for the better.
It was vague Zombie. For some league it was a rule change, for others it was not. That usually true of any clarification.
