How did the BBRC do on the rules review?

Perfect. This is exactly what I wanted to see.

ah bugger! I had a nice long post here which I have accidentaly lost....

so I will just paraphrase myself:

I guess I am just feeling a little underwhelmed by the end result. There was such alot of fanfare about the October (November/Devember ;) ) rules review that when all that was decided on were a few rules clarifications it just seemed a bit stale. That said (and here I go contradicting myself) I am actually very happy that not much has changed. The more that I think anout it, the more I feel that the core rules should never be touched. BB is a very strong system and it works exceptionally well. So I think that all that the BBRC should look at are rules clarifications and reworking skills and teams that have been abused.
I am happy that the secret weapons rules are in the BB magazine and despite saying that there should be no core changes to the rules I would like to see these rules (if they are balanced and well thought out!) added to the official rules set... Goblins and Dwarves just need to use secret weapons OKAY!?

Got a silly idea....

The BBRC come in for some criticism, ostensibly because you cannot please all the people all the time. Some choices seem great, others not so good....

Anyway, here's my silly idea (BBRC members please consider seriously)...

On March 1st and 2nd 200 of the worlds keenest BB coaches are meeting in Nottingham to play a few friendly games and chat about various things...

They(we) must be keen, it's gonna cost a fortune to do it! We clearly love our hobby and are willing to invest considerable time and money in it...

Now obviously, 200 people is far too many to get any sensible discussion going (person holding the ball gets to talk.. ) but it would be an ideal opportunity to get people to vote on ideas.. yes, it's a bit radical, but then democracy always seems that way to an oligarchy...

So, in a nutshell... in October, you guys get together and do your streamlining thing. Some things (Krox getting mighty blow for example) are quite obviously not requiring further discussion because they are corrections to oversights. Other things are clearly more contentious, so you put, say, 5 or 6 unresolved issues aside to be voted on at the March tournament. A show of hands or even 200 forms which could be collected might also take some of the onus off you guys and stop people complaining about things...

Just my radical idea for the day... 8)

Tomorrow's radical idea will be to solve world hunger....

Nice Idea Norse, but votes cannot pass just on majority. If a vote gets a 51% majority it shouldn't pass. Maybe not before 2/3 of the voters voted for (or against) it should it be abandoned at all ??

Just a thought

Disapointing

Post by Canbacon »

I didn't see much of a change to warrant a LR 2.0. An errata would have probably been enough.
One thing I missed were Big Guy Teams.
I remember they were on the list and that GW will be releasing new ogres
sometime soon. And what about the Halfling Chef? Okay, making the Ogre cheaper for halflings is nice,
but not a compensation for a free Chef.

So I'll join Galak and the rest of the halfling fans out there to whine about the halfling team...

BUT I HATE the fact that Ogres are now only 120k. I've already begun lobbying the BBRC to change this back. Why not just make the Treeman pretty much a fluff character (which is what this does). Piece of junk decision.

So you can join me on the quest for the free Master Chef, but if you are with most of the Halfling coaches I've met you'll becry this change instead of supporting it.

The NAF has a great Master Chef rule change that made him free to the team.

Halfling can roll a D6 before each half, on a 2+ he steals one reroll. For each extra 20k he spends on ingredients for that match, he can roll one extra D6 each half to try to steal an extra reroll.

Nice, balanced, and in line with the Chef.

I agree entirely with Galak on the issue of Ogres for 'fling/Gobbo teams, apart from the fact that i've just converted and painted up two troll blockers for my new goblin team, treeeman and trolls make the little guy teams much more characterful. Who wants to see an ogre playing for almost every team in a league, regardless of who they are?

I hope I am just being too cynical but I hope this decision has nothing to with the fact that GW is just about to release a load of new ogre models.

I agree. Ogres are over used. They shouldn't be on every team. Personally I would like to see them removed from the Orc's roster as well as dwarf, goblin and chaos. They should however be added to the Amazon roster. Why do the ladies not get a Big Gal? A female ogre for them would be hilarious! Or since they are a team with little WHFB info it's a perfect oppurtunity to add some new type of big guy.
Zoats anyone?

Rofl i love it, great idea.

Lets not be whipping any dead horses here. WFB needs an updated Chaos Dwarf army/minis more than they do zoats.
