Cases for transporting miniatures

Post by dpwright »

Ok, so I had this chat with Rab a little while ago, and we both have the same bugbear.

I like the cases with the metal plate at the bottom that are good for transporting 16 miniatures and 2 big guys (from Impact!); I like my warhammer army case...but I want an inbetween option!

I have a full Wood Elf squad...11 line elves (in case I start with that many on my team in a league) all the positionals, coach, cheerleader etc.

Is there a case that holds say, 25 miniatures that isn't too bulky? Flat owuld be nice.

Any helpers?

i don't know if there are any of these over there, but you could try a sporting goods store that carries firearms or cases for such. i picked up a case that will hold my complete dwarf team (roughly 20 figs) for about $10usd. you may want to try that or search for a handgun carring case online.

I've been using cases from Kaiser Rushforth for a while. I've got one of their half size aluminium cases for taking models to tourneys in (as it looks kinda funky) and you can easily fit a couple of teams in that as you can buy whatever foam you want to fit. Not too expensive either.

currently have a full 16 elves, plus 3 cheerleaders, 2 coaches, apoth and my legends of the old west posse in so should suit your needs. they do bigger and smaller cases too.

Check out the Feltheer range. It has a small, soft case which has two layers with 16 slots, each big enough for a Chaos Warrior to lie comfortly within. Alternatively, you can choose one of those layers+one custom layer, where you simply remove little rectangles to shape the slots yourself. I have two of these myself, and I'm planning on a third. Perfect for two Blood Bowl teams (or Mordheim warbands).

Yep, you can get pistol cases on eBay in varying sizes. Mine works well and is less bulky than the Impact! cases.

Most hardware stores will carry an aluminum tool case. (It looks like you'd expect to see it handcuffed to an important looking fellow)

They're much cheaper than gaming ones, and only need a bit of foam to work marvelously.

I also found the old GW cases with the handle and the two slide locks, and egg-carton-like foam to be one of the best for transporting a team.

No idea why they go rid of the design....

Chessex (the dice guys) make a 40-mini case. I'll have to dig around for the link. It's good for a pair of teams and associated staff, easy :)

I just bought an egg-box foam packed pistol case for a fiver, and a couple of quid postage off the great ebay. Says it's 10" by 7.5" and 3" deep. I reckon it'll be perfect.
