GW Selling Single Minis

Post by Rituro »

This month's WD arrived today, and what should I see alongside the pic and blurb of the new Griff model but a notice saying that, as of Dec. 1st, GW will be selling individual minis!

So, out of curiousity, what does this mean for BBFigs? Now that their raison d'etre has been scooped by GW, is the C&D letter next?

Few items:

1) I was pretty sure this was coming ... I had my sources who had told me it might happen. If you look at BBFigs.com you'll see a news item about waiting to see what happens. That's why so many items are sold out right now in the BBFigs.com store.

2) raison d'etre: one of the big reasons is discounted ... agreed. We'll still have the ability to sell expansion packs for the teams that don't have them and 16 man teams at a discount which GW still won't offer. I also believe we'll still be able to offer individual figures competitively ... I'm waiting to see if this is true.

3) C&D ... GW helped me set up this store ... why would we get a C&D? The store is totally legit and has been from the first day we started.

Whoops, must've missed that part... I think I over-inferred from the GW horror stories of this site a little too much and knee-jerked when I saw the WD blurb. My apologies if I offended.

Good to know there's still a choice in the market. A little competition is always healthy.

Hi.

Just for my non-english native curiosity:

What is exactly a C&D letter ?? I understand the general meaning of it from your discussion, but why "C&D" ? "Conquer & Destroy" ?

Though "Conquer & Destroy" does sound much better!

That's all I need to hear. Even if they were the same price, I'd prefer to buy from BBfigs.com than direct from GW.

Probably the biggest change I can see is that I may need to cancel the free postage option on BBFigs.com or really jack up the point where it happens. But I won't know that until I see how this falls out which is why BBFigs.com is on a minor vacation for restocking.

However we do have a shipment of the new Griffs on order ... should have them in the store within a month of the release.

Quick question Rituro- any word on if they'll be selling the 'missing' star players again? Or anything else which is not currently in their online store?

Yeah,

How about Hack'n Slash, Zara, all the other special weapons and such that go for crazy prices on ebay?

Thanks Rituro.
Do you think this means:
(a) GW are just making their existing range available as individual minis :pissed:
(b) Existing and other minis (from 3rd ed onwards) available individually :-?
(c) All BB minis available (incl. 2nd ed minis as required for new star players) :)
(d) GW don't really know what their plans are yet, especially given the long lead time on WD
(e) Something completely unexpected :?:

I know which I would like, and I know which is most likely...

I'd be hedging my bets towards a re-release of the current range of minis (basically little more than the secret weapons and new specials like zara).

I'd love to see the 2nd ed minis come back but I can't help but think that will never happen :/

Personal opinion ... a - Yes ... b - Maybe ... c through e - No chance
