Cyberspawn on ebay? Anyone has experience?
Hello,
I just won some auctions from cyberspawn (powerseller on ebay, 100% feedback)
Now, the items have arrived and they look so recasted.
I have checked his auctions of last month and he has sold
many teams
many rare figs
Just to warn you, these look really recasts.

1) They are more shiny then the original
2) They sound different (this may "sound" weird but when you drop them on a table from a heigt of 1cm, they give a much higher sound)
3) There is a weight difference.
Original was 11 grams and the recast was 7 gram.
Those are two figs of 2nd ed zombies.
This is what I conclude to be a recast. Unless GW has used new material to give that much difference.
Give me your opinion.

Are both those zombies from the same batch or is one of them the 11g type and the other 7g? They look quite similar, like coming from the same mould but one being "old skool" pewter and the other "white metal".
All three points you bring up could be dervied from the difference between pewter and white metal. But I understand your concern.

I see what you mean, one seems to be made with a different "metal compound". The right is much more reflective, like Odium Khan said: maybe this is because it's made with white metal.
I just had a look at some 2nd edition miniatures I have here and noticed that some have a different date. E.g. All my Skaven lineman have 1987 and my Skaven blitzers and throwers have 1988. Maybe this can explain the metal compound differance, though I'm not sure it should.
Maybe the right Zombie was made just after GW started using the newer metal. Though (again) I'm not sure, so I'll stop speculating and let the pro's do there thing
I hope you din't get a recast.
Edit: Just had a quick look and I don't have any 2nd edition miniatures, no matter what date, that are made of the metal that is used to make the 3rd edition miniatures. So i do think you have a recast at the moment.

IMO ... there should be no white metal zombie 1ed or 2 ed around ! At last GW didnt cast them... as far i know !They sound different (this may "sound" weird but when you drop them on a table from a heigt of 1cm, they give a much higher sound)

And all my minis of this time are "heavy dull sound metal "!

not true ..Wightlord wrote:I think GW switched to white metal about 1996 so 1st and 2nd ed are out.
the second ed figs (ans thus also that 1st ed skellie and zombie) were available from Mail Order for a long long time. At some point they got recast by GW in white metal as well as they had to cast more figures to apply to the demand. I have bought a 2nd ed ogre from GW that's white metal so this figure COULD be cast, by GW in white metal.
