Now for a short run-down of my tournament....

I took wood elves this year as I wanted to do elves. A year ago I started down the high elf road in our league, but looking at the possibilities for a tournament they just make no sense, so wood elves it was then. I took 2 wardancers four catchers 5 linos and 3 rerolls.

Game 1 put me against Vinz_D's skaven, which became a high scoring match in which I broke his offense once and he failed to retaliate ending it all in 5-3.

Next up were Da Great MC's Evil Norse. A very tight game, especially the second half where neither of us were able to get the ball out of the scrum for a long long time. In the end he did and won deservedly 2-1

Next up were some more skaven, coached by ou very own commish Dave. He put his bag-o-balls on the table, we wipped out our rulers (Dave's was the reddest) and started our game. It all ended in bragging rights for me (see ya thursday dave?) and tears for Dave (5-2). Rumour has it this loss left him drinking till late in the night.

Sunday morning put me up against Simon who, while rehydrating, was in a very good mood! I had a huge amount of fun that game and it was a massacre. In the end it was just one catcher and one lino left, but I did make Simon work for his 4-3 victory.

Last game was against a german guy: raykieboy. He was playing khemri who turned out to be very pacifist. My wardancers (one stripball, one surehands) worked very well together, the first throwing the one die pow three times against the throw-ra and the second one picking up the ball afterwards. raykieboy didnt really stand a chance as his armour and injury rolls just didnt seem to work as well... 4-0

Great fun, good games, good laughs and incredible tournament specials!!

Thanks to all who were there and the organizers in special!

Thanks to the organisation crew for their work ! ;)
I really had a great time as usual. :D

Giants even won SuperBowl !!! :D
I was really hot to watch the game at Coco's Outback like last year, but the other French guys were too lazy/drunk/stone to come... So we stayed in our boat without any waitress to bring us beer... :-?

Exactly.. been a blast as always.. the dutch open beat every other tournament i have been to so far. Lots of coaches, lots of nationalities, lots of bb, lots of socializing at _three_ (3!!!!) evenings and of course lots and lots of beer *g*

everyone who has not been there wasted that weekend, no matter the alternative ;-)

Big thanks to Lucy, Claudia, Niels and the others who helped making this one happen

Dutch Open 2008

Hi I am SirSebstar, and this account I posted on PBEMBBL.

My last tournement was the Madhobbit 2004 where I become 2nd. Since then I have played a total of 3 bloodbowl games. Quite some preparation, but then those 2 and a half games were quite fun to play and more was simply proving to be too difficult for me to work into my schedule. Next yest resolution, find more time to do fun things like attend BB tournys.

Anyways, here is a matchreport about my last match of the tournament.

Game 5: Skaven vs Skaven.
My team 12 players
1 Rat Ogre, 2 Throwers, 2 Gutter Runners, 2 blitzers, 5 lineman
Skills 4 (RO with Juggernaut, Blitzer with Tackle, Blitzer with MB, Thrower with Leader)
1ff , 1AC, 1 CL

His team. 13 players: 2blitzer, 4 Gutter Runners, 2 thrower, 5 lineman.
skills 4 (1 with blodge, with leap, lineman with kick and Blitzer with strip ball)
0FF, 1 AC, 2 CL

I got +1 Fame exactly doubling his amount of fans.

I get to receive, sweet. Lets try to kill some players(on the way to scoring) with my MB blitzer and MB Rat Orge..
Turn 1, I formed a small cage on the side, left my ball carrying gutter runner next to the line. His turn one, he cancels out my two players next to my ballcarrier, blitz leap (Leap? oops) one dice block and my guy is no more. He has the ball, next turn he scores.
That half he scores twice more, killing 2 of my players. I manage to throw crap, every dice I reroll turns up the same but on the lucky side I manage to kill 3 of his and KO 5, the KO’s all get back of course. End of the first half, 0-3 TD 3-2 Cas. We have an equal amount of players.
Conclusion first half; First half was a disaster, I managed to kill 2, same as he did, and that’s using my 2 MB players (inc RO).

Second half I open a can of beer, thinking to drown my sorrow when fate is turning around. I set up to kick, and roll a blitz on the kick-off table. I manage to get under the ball, kill one of his guys and manage to form a cage on the right side around it. One guy swoops wide on the left side.
He attempts to break the cage Ko’ing 2 of my players and stuns 2 others. He blocks my path to score with good effort and going forward is out. I look around. I manage to block a guy out of the way and have a clear path to the lone guy on the left. Handoff Score.

Setup again, this time he forms a cage, but leaves his RG (doubling as thrower= dead) way in the backfield. I surround his cage, put my RO in 3 TZ.s and move one lineman up the field in an attempt to intercept. My GR blitzes his, 2 GFI, block and we are both down. His turn makes him pass the pall, but I can retrieve it, pass to the lineman, score!

Once more I manage to score. I can’t even remember how. Then its his turn 7.We are tied in TD. I am still leading 4-2 in CAS, and managed to KO 1 more so I am up 2 players. He builds a cage and keeps his ball carrying GR in the backfield. I place one lineman there as far as he can manage, (he can’t even reach the cage so why not try to get it into the other direction.
My 2 GRs block the front of the cage with a thrower on the corner, and I secure the side with TZ. It looks like a solid second cage, except of course for the GR with leap. I can’t get a TZ on him and even if I did, he would have enough assists to get it blocked away.
His turn 8, he blocks a guy away to make room for the GR. He passes on a 3+ succeeds, catches on a 3+ succeeds, handoff 2+ succeed en attempts to move the ball carrying lead GR. Move, dodge, leap, dodge tz, dodge, score. There are no RR left on his side, I got 2RR for turn 8, got one on the last kick-off.. His dodge succeeds, his leap…did not. A 2.. Finally!! His first failed leap. Ball is loose, scatters over the sideline en comes to rest in my own endzone, about 5 paces away from my thrower.

My only chance is to free the thrower, pickup, pass handoff.
I block the guy having a TZ away from the thrower. Free up a lineman with a blitz from my remaining Blitzer. Both succeed. Then passmove to pickup, (sure hands) pass (pass) handoff (reroll) Catch, succeeded move into the TZ. SCORE!
From a 0-3 winning with 4-3. YAE!.

When I finally have shaken off the adrenaline rush I got off my chair, and head over to the awards ceremony. There I hear the other 3 Dutch guys above me lost their game and with that last TD I secured the position of being the best Dutch Player.

WOOT!

Sorry to bore you all with it, but this game is fading from my memory fast, because it was that intense.. Only in hindsight can I grasp the problem of coming back from a 0-3 to a 4-3 and moving the ball from one endzone to the other and score. As well as the bad luck of others failing to win or tie. I just played a game to the best of my ability and that proved to be enough

Just want to chime in & join the chorus of "Thank you" to the organizers and "Really enjoyed it".
The Rotters did better than I epected them to do, up until the point when the second clog dropped in game 5 and a wave of liquid cheddar poured over me.
