Indeed I just noticed this change in the rulesset. Earlier editions did have two skills randomly decided after each game.
This year it seems that you get one random before each game ...
Don't know if I like the random factor that much though ... I have always been a big supporter of either two RANDOM skills or one CHOSEN skill. If you end up with most of the skills landing on zombies, skinks, lineelfs or other "generic scum" you will have a very hard time playing against the likes of wood elfs that just happened to get a strip ball on a wardancer or the likes ...
Might be something that was to be changed as well, because if I recollect correctly, the initial rules set stated that two skills per game could be chosen. The Brassmen obviously changed their minds, but perhaps the random was forgotten ... Sam or Dries, can you advise in this matter?
Cheers!
PS: Has the Brassbowl been officially upgraded to Belgian Open from this year on or is this still in the making?

Read my post again, I am fully aware of the situation!Tuern,
Its one chosen skill the first time; and after that: random skills... (and just one of them).

Dark Elves really are quite bashy IMO. They don't do the quick scoring routine well. They also do well in 2 random skills setup. They're still quite resilient with AV 8 and Dodge and can bash pretty good with 4 blitzers and 1 or 2 witches.

I can answer the "Belgian Open" question.
Only this year's edition of the Brassbowl will be "Belgian Open". Starting 2009 there will be a closed Belgian Championship, probably held in StNiklaas (same location as HQ Bowl), probably somewhere in March.

Hi Mats!
Thanks for the update! People cannot deny that Belgium is a Blood Bowl community on the grow ...
Ostends is host for the Brassbowl, Turnhout for the Flanders Chainsaw Massacre and the Lowlands Border Brawl, Hasselt sees the second edition of the Oberonn Smack this Saturday and Sint Niklaas has begun a team event under the name HQ Bowl, only to add a second tourney in two years time, being the Belgian Open!!! (please forgive me if I left a tourney out of my list - these are the ones I know of)
This effectively means that Belgian coaches have a nicely spread tourney calendar each year: March, April, August, September, November and December all have an event scheduled! Combine this with tourneys like the Dutch Open (februari), Madhobbit Massacre (May) and Bubble (September) [not mentioning the Colleges of Magic, 24h of BB or Streetbowl tournaments] and the low lands have a very nice array of Blood Bowl events to choose from.
Keep up the good works to all of you! Tournament play gives a particular ambience to the game that you don't get in league play and once you have tasted it, you are hooked for life!
Regards!

Of course! It's quite funny to see how all the foreign media are speculating about a split in belgium while it's not even remotely on the table here. They just don't understand the history of the problem and the belgian way of doing politics...Duke Jan wrote:The bigger question is: will there still be Belgium in December?
But that is a political discussion which has no place here.

There has been a small change in the skillprogression.
After each game you can give 2 skill to randomly selected players.
After game 3 you can give a skill and a skill as if you rolled a double.
This is actualy the same as every year, but it was written diferently on the NAF-site.

Question:
If JJ is coming (I'll know the answer to that this evening) is it possible to get an Orc Team from someone, so that he can coach orcs isntead of chaos dwarves. (He never played orcs, so its in the best interest for all of us
)
Why didnt I wait to post this? ... Because I'm bored

Still no progress on the job front, Tom? Sitting behind a PC waiting to get a training indeed seems a bit dull, especially when the situation takes ages to change as in your case!
My orcs are not painted yet and the Turnhout gang will be fielding our two painted teams theirselves (Uriel and Totti).
Sorry, no possibilities from our side.
CU Saturday!
PS: Nice signature, but forget it!
