Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
A forum for football mini's talk.......painting, converting etc. etc. or showing off great accessories that make playing the game easier, cooler or more fun.

The part I wonder about is the whole Trademark/Copyright thing. It seems they could get a little pissy if the image included one of thier logos and I was buying it from DL or Brownie. It seems a generic football board would get through the legal hurdles fine, but the other I don't know about.
From a users perspective you'd think they'd want to keep me playing thier game. I buy minis and paint, and others see me play and take up the hobby also. Therefore having a good supply of interesting boards only makes thier product more appealing. They can't/wouldn't do this as the market is too small for them so it's a win win, but you never know with the corporate mind.
Well Tom has shown me that his felt boards have passed the smell test so far but a company (or one person not sure) was ordered to "cease & desist" and I believe (correct me if I'm wrong Tom) that they were making boards similar in construction to the folding board sold with blood bowl.
I would be happy to sell my services to create a custom board for your group or whatever. However be advised that Tom got me cheap because I was in college. I don't know what mrbrownsquire would charges but I assume it's comparable. I wouldn't recommend it if you're only getting one board.
For one board I would wait for me or mrbrownsquire to create some and sell them in dark alleys. I'm thinking...don't hold me to this...I should be able to sell my boards for around $30 each.
But to do one custom image from scratch is gonna cost you in the neighborhood of $10-$20 hour with probably around 5-10 hours of work involved. So printing one board is gonna cost you around $150 per board.
Printing 50 boards for an annual Con is gonna be $50 a board. And understand that the boards Tom is talking about are durable sturdy boards of TOP quality. Getting boards printed in a normal standard would be much less than $50 a board (although I don't know if Tom is offering that)
Like I said, mine will be around $30 (I think!) and will have no logos or identifying marks. They will be as generic as I can get them but also as fun as I can make them.
Tom's boards will be custom boards of super top quality. Since he isn't actually selling the boards, and the people getting the custom work done aren't using them for profit they can have Blood Bowl logos on them or pretty much anything you want...they are the same thing as a conversion piece for intents and purposes. (again correct me if I'm wrong, Tom)
One correction to what you said ... the cease and desist order was sent to the folks making Chaos League as they used GW's board design for the computer game. Wasn't someone making physical boards.
