Chaos Cup 2007, Sept. 22/23 - Chicago, IL

Post by GalakStarscraper »

Alright ... the website is all updated with all the information from last year and this year's event as well.

Check out: http://www.thechaoscup.com/

5 round swiss tournament, LRB 5.0, TV 100 .... all inducements can be purchased as part of your team other than Special Play Cards and Mercenaries.

Any questions please ask. If your question is why is the Chaos Cup in September it is because it was moved to avoid conflict with the World Cup which was being held on the same weekend that the Chaos Cup was originally scheduled to be held.

Hope to see you all there as last year's event was great!

Final note ... for those of you that watch your NAF rankings .. the Chaos Cup counts extra towards your ranking compared to a normal BB tournament.

Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when they find out, you're a mile away...... and you have their shoes.

I'm 10 minutes from Downers...!

I'll have to get my 3 buddies up to speed on LR5 ... and paint them up some teams... and paint myself a team.

Looks like I have my work cut out for me.

Okaaaay,

Im in and im bringing Rachel. Ive PM'ed Paul, Grum, Gav and Geoff to check which flights they've booked for the out going journey. I've been doing some hotel research and these look pretty good price wise

Are they viable in terms of distance from the venue, the bears ground so we can see the game on sunday night (do we have / can we get tickets?) and a baseball game on the wednseday night or friday afternoon?

Suggestions from any locals would be much appreciated!

There is a listing of close hotels on the website. Many stay at the Red Roof.

Gumbo,

There is a Bears game Sunday night at 7:15 vs the Cowboys. You will need to get tickets in advance, or possibly try from scalpers outside Soldier Field. I would recommend getting them in advance however since you can't trust anyone. Single game tickets have not yet gone on sale, but they will on JULY 21st at NOON (Central Time) and you can get them directly from www.chicagobears.com (I believe it's linked up thru ticketmaster.com). Bears tickets are very hard to come by even when they are having bad seasons. Since they were just in the Superbowl, try your best to get them when they are on sale on 7/21. You could try looking on ebay later on, but I bet they will cost a fortune.

Since I am a Cubs fan, I recommend going to Wrigley Field. It's a historic place and a blast. Also all the bars outside of the ballpark are a great time. These tickets you will not be able to buy from chicagocubs.com as everything has been sold out for awhile, but I do recommend ebay. Just do a search for "Cubs tickets 9/19" or whatever date you want to go. If you take the L (for ELevated train, like a subway) on the Redline you can get dropped off at Addison which is right in front of Wrigley Field. You cannot beat that!

Any hotels downtown are fine, just make sure they have an L station nearby, preferably within walking distance. You could always take cabs too.

How is it in terms of travel times to the venue and the basebal/footie game guys?

That is a great hotel right in the heart of downtown. Make sure to check out Navy Pier and 'dook is correct that it's near Soldier Field.

If you want to go to Wrigley Field it's on the North side of the city (nowhere near downtown), so it's best to take the Redline L train up there and get off at Addison.
