Phenomenal work, really like the pitch, i would love to see the BB logo in centre on LoS (like the old astro pitch).
Can these be printed on to a semi transparent material then laid on top of an exsisting pitch ? The mud distressed pitch would work well for the unfortunate rolls on weather table, e.g. pooring rain. And maybe a snow/ice design would overlay the grass too.

Great idea to have semi transperant layers. To bad my Photoshop skills sucks.

Dug outs? Maybe a bit harder but doesn't need be.

Like this?

Also, does the distressed pitch look work? I made the grass a little yellower too.

The only way to have a transparent layer would be to print on perspex and lay it over the top. Not sure how that would look.

That was my next thought, but where to put them? Against the touch line or by the sideline?

I find that most often I play the dugouts are placed on the sideline beside each other. Simply because with a normal table they wont fit on the shortline.

And please if you want to, put all those great picks on your page with the first pitches.

After looking at the advert logos people have made, I thought I would stick in some billboards. What do you guys think?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Yet another version. Can anybody suggest things to add? Pitch debris perhaps?

First up, good job! It's great to see others stepping up to the graphics plate, so to speak. However, you did ask for some other suggestions, so here we go.

Some debris would not go astray but keep it minimal. Maybe 3 or 4 pieces strewn around the ground. Keep it to the top layer and leave it crisp. You would be able to see all the details on it.

On real life fields, one often sees endzone endorsements, team names, etc... In the online javabowl, the endzones are tinted red and blue. You could accomplish the same effect by adding a red and blue tint layer above the grass layer yet below the lines and items layer. Keep the effect subtle (maybe 25-33% transparency) and it will look great.

The other thing would be to lower the transparency of the BB skulls. In most graphics these look like concrete slabs lowered onto the field. Lower the transparency and maybe add some texture and it will look like it was painted on the grass itself, as opposed to slabbed on top.

Here's a couple of examples of what I mean. These were done for javabowl. My home is named Ridgecroft (not by me but back in the 1940's) so hence my homefield name of Ridgecroft Raiders.

I'm not completely happy with either of these (they could be a little more subtle) but they do the job.

I would also lower the transparency of the crosses to a bit more like the lines (which I think look quite good).

All in all, a nice effort, but these subtle touches might make it even more enjoyable.

Cheers!

Really good pitches.

Mr Brown: Could you put up pictures of the Mk4 pitch without the dugouts? And then put up pics for just one dug out?

As you requested, I have uploaded the pitch and both a pair and single dugout.

Thanks.
Now I just have to convince/pay my little brother to make one off these pitches w/dugouts. He can get the tools and materials for free at his school. Plus he's ten times more handy then me.

Just a tought, don't know how it would look, but you could easily mow the field to get a checker board look (they do it on baseball fields all the time) then you wouldn't need the dots.

Same with soccerfields. They just have a mat after the mower that bend the grass. So the shadows creates different patterns.

Might be cool but also can be a bit hard to concentrate on the squares when you play?? Try...

Did a little more playing on full sized pitches and came up with these...

First the normal pitch...

and then one for BB7s

Just have to get 'em printed now.

Full sized printing costs are prohibitive. I'll probably look at printing on A3 sheets, laminating them and blue-tac them to the table. Then the costs are quite low (couple of bucks per field) and you can make a custom field for each team.

Actually thought about offering to make custom field graphics in return to a couple of painted minis but wasn't sure if anybody would be interested. Need to build an ogre team somehow.

Cheers!
