Purchasing Teams and starting league with friends

Post by galonso »

OK, I am in the process of buying all these teams. I want to learn how to play like a champ and then maybe go play in the big tournies. My questions are:

#1 Are these the top tournament teams at TR 100 and TR 110?
#2 If not, who am I missing/replace?
#3 Am I collecting the right # of players for the positions in each team?
#4 What do you think of the team names (they will all be painted in that teams colors)? Any better suggestions? I'm trying to use real places in the Warhammer world.
#5 How do you like the conferences? Are they balanced or should I make adjustments?
#6 I had Necromantic in there but subbed it out for Dark Elves. Do you agree? I read on the boards they aren't as good anymore.

Im getting approx 16 players per team. Teams in bold I have purchased. Not too bad for a week and a half, eh?

Depends but a lot ate 110 nowadays

#2 If not, who am I missing/replace?
Not sure on the Question

#3 Am I collecting the right # of players for the positions in each team?
In the main - will comment seperate on this

#4 What do you think of the team names (they will all be painted in that teams colors)? Any better suggestions? I'm trying to use real places in the Warhammer world.
Great, but has been done before. Be good to see what you make of them though! :P

#5 How do you like the conferences? Are they balanced or should I make adjustments?
Again not sure what you mean here?

#6 I had Necromantic in there but subbed it out for Dark Elves. Do you agree? I read on the boards they aren't as good anymore.
Both teams are good but have a different style, personally I prefer the new Dark Elf line-up

Im getting approx 16 players per team. Teams in bold I have purchased. Not too bad for a week and a half, eh?
Very good - did you get a good deal? 8)

Amazon (Amazon Island Jaguars) NP Pretty standard line-up but if not broke don't fix it!
4 Blitzers
2 Catchers
2 Thrower

HUMAN (Middenland Patriots) NP good line-up but Ogre I wouldn't have on start up lineup!
4 Blitzer
2 Thrower
3 Catchers
6 Lineman
1 Ogre (havent purchased yet)

Khemri (Khemri Titans) you should only need one Throw-Rah but on a 16 squad its ok for a second!
4 Mummy
2 Blitz-Ra
2 Throw-Ra
7 Skeletons

ORC (Orcland Raiders) I would have a troll on this team but thats a personal preference
4 Black Orcs
4 Blitzers
2 Thrower
6 Lineman
4 Goblins
1 Troll (havent purchased yet)

SKAVEN (Skavenblight Chargers) NP!
4 Gutter Runners
2 Storm Vermin
2 Thrower
7 Line Rats
1 Rat Ogre

UNDEAD (Sylvania Ravens) NP!
2 Mummies
2 Wights
4 Ghouls
5 Zombies
3 Skeleton

NFC

DWARF (Barak Varr Bears) NP But you may want to consider a deathroller as these beasts are cool!
2 Runner
2 Blitzer
2 Troll Slayer
8 Long beard

Lizardman (Huatl Seahawks) NP!
1 Kroxigor
6 Saurus
8 Skinks

NORSE (Norsca Vikings) Get a snow troll he kicks ass!
2 Berserker
2 Runners
2 Ulfwerenar (haven't purchased yet)
2 Thrower
7 Lineman
1 Snow Troll (haven't purchased yet)

Dark Elves (Clar Karond Buccaneers) 2 runners I would suggest!
2 Witch Elves
4 Blitzers
2 Assassins
1 Runners
7 Lineman

Chaos Dwarf (Zharr-Naggrund 49ers) I still don't like minotaurs on this team, they just don't need it!
2 Bull Centaurs
6 Chaos Dwarf Blockers
7 Hobgoblins
1 Minotaur

WOOD ELF (Athel Loren Eagles) Go for 4 catchers on a 16 squad they are awesome!
2 Wardancers
3 Catchers

Not sure on the Question )
What I meant was, is there a team that is tournament caliber that I am missing (ie perhaps nurgle or high elves for example (i dunno, Im just picking teams at random)) and if so which team should I swap out for it?
Tritex wrote: #5 How do you like the conferences? Are they balanced or should I make adjustments?

To clarify my goal is to play in sort of a league/tournament format with my friends to learn the game and get experience vs the various tournament teams. I tried to set up NFL style conferences but I would like them to be balanced (ie for example not having all the fast teams in one conference). I would like to have a nice mix of teams in both conferences.

But I should at least have on on the team, right?

Yes, but is the Deathroller tournament viable or a waste?

What would you take out?

Also let me clarify. These 16 players are my chosen pieces for each team. Doesnt mean it would be my starting lineup. I know to start with as close to 11-14 players as possible (closer to 11). I'm just trying to buy all the figs I would need to play in a league or a tournament realistically. (ie. you can play with 16 human linemen but I am not going to buy them all just in case.)

Teams I think you have the right balance!! :P

Theres a lot more discussion that needs to be done around make-up of teams in league from starting roster to progression but you have all the key components. Theres another thread ref optimum starting teams in the forum somewhere if you use the search key. Basically take 1 team at a time as theres too much to go on looking at this (would take all day to review)

I Know you got many of the figures from me thanks was just being a bit sarcastic 8)

Ogre should be on the team, but I wouldn't start with him. Others think differently but I think Humans have a lot more going on and really don't need him in the sdtarting line up.

Deathroller. I would have one in the squad but probably not at start up. He doesn't half chalk up the casualities. Just remember to only have him on the side when your recieving to get maximum effect! :pissed:

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip but I want my figs right away and dont want to wait 3 months for the figures I need to be listed (I hate getting sniped on bids at the last min). The prices aren't that bad. I buy from other vendors as well.

  Keep up the pace  . I get very few from e-bay these days, too many collections being offered to me direct!!

Ebay cannot keep up with the amount of figures I turn over and prices tend to be higher on ebay these days anyway!!

Galonso I do agree you really got to be patient with ebay to get the figs you want at a good price but it's pretty satisfying sniping tritex & saving yourself paying 300% mark up but it's your dough.
