The Odd Squad, my 'Tourney-Mini' Necromantic Team

Post by dwarfcoach »

The Odd Squad is the result of a disturbed Necromancer named Dr Lars Von Oddienski. 'Dr' Oddienski is obsessed with finding new ways of making life last longer, be better and all the other demented idiosyncrasies that force a clever yet repressed character along the lines of Necromancy and madness. Here is his first 12 from his 'Squad':

A bit of a closer look, first the Werewolf team captain Winston Wolf:

Just don't make him take off those gloves :o .

The Flesh Golem known as 'Birdy':

The second Flesh Golem 'Gizmo':

*2nd EDIT FOR ADDITIONAL INFO*
Winston's Werewolf partner-in-crime, Snoop Dogg:

The recently deceased Wight Ade 'Too Tall' Hall:

And his brother (deceased for nearly 20 years now) Robert 'Fadin Fast' Hall:

*3rd EDIT FOR ADDITIONAL INFO*

Oddienski is obsessed with keeping beings alive, and as such even the most 'live' part of his team (normally a position taken be Ghouls) is made up of 'creature-constructs'. Now Oddienski has had some success in this area with his two Flesh Golems and even his Lineman 'Mr Bubble' functions alongside the other Zombies quite well and so he turned his attention to the more agile side of the team. After many, many failed attempts he has managed to construct a double-headed Skaven - 'Double-Trouble'.
Image
For some reason the Skaven physic works well with adding additional body parts and as such 'DT' functions just as well as a basic, untrained Human Lineman, a vast improvement on the Zombies Oddienski has been working on. He continues to experiment...

Last but not least, the real heroes of any BB team, the Linemen:

Cheers mate, I can't wait to get them on the field and get stuck into some BB action!! The first tourney they will attend is PKQ3, and I have even prepared a little handout for anyone that is 'confused':

http://www.boomspeed.com/weirdstuff/THE ... lained.doc

... should sort out any confusion. I got the idea after a certain English/Dutch guy expressed some confusion over my Demon team so I thought I'd make everything crystal with this team 8) .

A very nice team. But why the glossy varnish?

Yeah I know, it's annoying  . I bought a bulk set of 6 cans of varnish a while ago and then they just sat in the cupboard as I wasn't painting much and had not finished my matt varnish. I finished it the other day and just grabbed one of the new cans and sprayed and when it was dry it was... a little shiny  . To be honest it is a very subtle effect on the naked eye (well apart from 'Fadin Fast' who is a bit shiny) and so it looks ok but in photo's it does seem to look more shiny. :?: You will just have to wait until you see them yourself to see what I mean...

Go buy a can of Testor's dull coat and spray them with that.

It will neutralize the shiney finish.

the varnish is a bit bright. except that they rock! great to see a team converted, and youve painted them really well so it works great.

'Birdy', the other Flesh Golem model was a model either made specifically for the 2005 Bubble Tournament in Holland or a previous years Bubble and it was 2005 that I picked him up there :) .

Yep, a good few tourney specials in this team, including the other Flesh Golem which I got as a prize at Carnage 2005, I wonder will someone be able to get all the names / locations...?

Good man Joy!

Almost there, I've filled out a few bits below in red:
Djengis_Khan wrote: for the names:
Winston Wolf: Dutch open 2005/ amsterdam Holland
'Birdy': Bubble 2005/ Utrecht Holland (Fondu)
'Snoop': werewolf by fondu> no tourney special I think.. Hmm, can't really remember how I got this fella, maybe Fondu will know...?
'Too Tall': House rulez human..> was that a tourney special? Given away to all-comers as tourney gift, Carnage 2005
'Fadin Fast': Albion coast cup... 2003? Yep, given away to all tourney attendees.
'DT': Chaos cup Gutterrunner 'Special deal' with Tom...
Mr Bubble 2004 (Fondu) Utrecht 'Special delivery' from a friend in Holland as I couldn't make the tourney that year.

no clue about "Gizmo" though.. Given away as special prize at Carnage 2005 ( I think I won it as first person to get sent off in round 3 or something  )
Good stuff, I'm hoping to be able to add to the team when I return from Rendevouz, I have a hunch that may be wrong but I have sneaky idea there may be a model there that I can use...?

I like them! =D Maybe not the prettiest or most coherent team out there, but the creativity is great! Good job, dwarfcoach!
