I'm currently thinking about how to do the dutch team AFTER this year's eurobowl. I'm already sure it will be a combination of factors, including maybe tournament prestations, maybe NAF ranking, maybe online 'fame' etc ..

The Dutch squad had a very difficult time last year to organise a team for the Eurobowl. If we look at the German example:
Organise qualifiers, to get the best players, you organise a thing which doesn't work.
Many players couldn't go and finally they lacked players.

So, what seems to be an important factor is "who actually wants to go and can confirm this in advance!"
Many players state that they want to go, but X drop out Y time in advance.
When X is short, you already have a problem.
When Y is short, the team suddenly has a serious problem.

So, in my view, the effort should be coordinated by someone(s) like Redfang is doing for the Eurobowl Dutch squad. In the beginning when the tourney was in Holland, many Dutch players wanted to attend. We eventually picked a team based on several factors.
When the tourney was in Germany, many Germans wanted to attend (like the Dutch wanted in Holland) and organising a Dutch squad was still easy (with less Dutch players willing to participate).
But look what happened when it went to England. Suddenly Germans and Dutch players were hard to come by (the expenses etc made it harder).

So, for the Dutch cause, I hope Redfang will remain Dutch organisor for the Eurobowl sqaud and for the world bowl we should look to our NAF representative (which is Dave)

I agree with Lucy here (I think)!

If Dave wants to coördinate that would be fine. Invite everybody (post on TBB) and ask if they want to attend and what % chance there is that they CAN attend.

Then pick a squad from the 100% guys. Seems the fairest way to go.

BTW, I will not be able to attend. So need to invite me!

Where as in Scotland, the pressgangs will be out. I have already handed to shillings to the boys, to see who they can get.

Not sure what i'm talking about?

'Pick a squad' is, I think, a rather arbitrary criteria, Draco. And has got little to do with fairness.
Who to pick is *the* problem when (and only when) more people want to attend. But I agree that we'll need to see and wait if that eventually does happen. I don't think I will be on the list either. Chances are slim that I can get the days off, and I also decided that I prefer individual tournaments that do not have any of these picking problems.

Sorry Joris, didn't say that the way it was meant. Of course "pick" a team is not a good option. Parlay is the way to go!

He means 'bribe the right people'. Nothing says "PickMe!PickMe!PickMe!PickMe!PickMe!PickMe!PickMe!PickMe!PickMe!" like a few thousand euro's.

Tbh, if people are going to get so uptight about wheter or not the team selection is "fair", or wheter they're on it or not, I'm happier playing in the individual side tournament.

How about this:

first day: every player from each country can participate...
Second day: the four best players from each country go through to "the world cup" and the rest continues with the other tournament.

No...favourites
No problem with the amount of coaches for each country (i suppose each country can at least produce 4 coaches).
Everybody is motivated to play and continue to play.

That doesn't seem like a half bad idea. You only need some mechanism to stop people showing up with to many similar team choices. But that's not too much of a problem

Absolutely. I'm happy for the old school 'dictatorial' team make up. Ok so some people my get into one particular team by favoritism, but its far less painful than qualifiers. And who's to say they even work? I hope the Eurobowl team for England just gets switched to the World Cup team. I'd be happy to enter the individuals as Darkson said.

I'd pretty much agree with this. Appoint a captain and let them pick the team.

I'm not running the tournament but I've been led to believe that you don't have to have the same people play every round - so you can always rotate through the individual games and the World Cup so most people get to play.

I'll go with 6 best players of each country but yep...that one its good. Also...the 6 best with different races...so a WE is first and fourth...the fourth is not part of the team and instead the seventh is in.

If we can achieve the nobody-plays-a-player-for-the-same-country thing the first day we can considere the day one results for both tourneys.

So, first day...meeting, painting contests and so...second day..3 or 4 games qualifier. Third day individual and team games 5th to 7th, and the fourth day 8th to 9th or to 10th....

I really like this idea.

Why does this World Cup idea should be against Eurobowl Organisation ?

i can't get the Idea?... is there any difference? No imho

So for all that 'Team tourny' , let the Country deal as they use to do for Eurobowl, with each country method. France is like Netherland in that case but surely more lucky in getting much more possible and motivated players.

For all that is about personnal Tourny, no need to qualify or whatever imo, let it open ;)

Then... The date is still a pain.. Change it to November 2007 will be better for everybody and giving much more time to think and organise it...
