death zone supplement
I am a former bloodbowl player who was thinking about getting back into the hobby but was surprised to find out that the death zone supplement is no longer available to buy. Why is this and how do I go about getting all the cards, rosters, markers etc. from that box that I need. Is all that stuff in the fourth edition of blood bowl or do newbies download it? Are the death zone rules in the 4rth edition aswell? I would appreciate feedback from someone who knows the score.

4th edition is a blip on the bb radar screen, probably best not to mention it around some of the old timers (bad ruleset
). Those rules were scrapped for the Living Rule Book ("L.R.B.") which included some changes to part of the death zone supplement (i.e. player advancement, teams and chucked the cards, and some others). Right now, the current version is L.R.B. 4.0 which you can download and print for free off the bloodbowl section of gw's specialist gamesite.

Also on the site are the "Experimental Rules" which will become LRB 5.0 contains a lot of changes to 4.0, too many to describe here and the merits of which have been pretty much hotly debated for the last 2 + years. A search on this site will lead to some worthwhile (and in some cases, not so worthwhile
) discussions. LRB 5.0 re-incorporates special play cards by utilizing a standard 52 card playing card deck. I am not in with the folks who are in the know as far as rumors with gw production, but I'm not sure if GW is planning to rerelease the bb cards. You might pick up the old cards from someone here who has an extra set laying about or watch ebay.
It's a lot to take in, but the games been moving and evolving a lot, so take your time, run a search on this site if you have questions (it's probably been discussed numerous times already) or ask.
welcome back to the pitch.

Yep, basically the league rules from Death Zone were incorporated into the main rulebook, which is free to download from GW. As Lawquoter mentioned, this is likely to change in a few months once the experimental PBBL rules are finalised.
Welcome back!

The cards from the original Death Zone (known as 3rd edition cards) are no longer used. There are no cards at all in LRB. The soon-to-be-official PBBL rules introduce some cards, graded in terms of power, but generally weaker than the 3rd ed. cards.
The general agreement amongst BB players is that the 3rd ed. cards were horribly broken and no fun.
