BLood Bowl 2: Dead Ball
Having read the first book, I saw this in my local bookshop and against my better judgement bought it
Reading it can be summed up in one word - painful.
You know a book is bad when the author thinks the following names are funny;
Mon Jotson (Albion Commentator), Bavid Deckem (Star Player), Tharg Retmatcher (Dictator)
The plot is poor, and the writer seems to be unfamiliar with bloodbowl (Treemen on a human team?)
I feel like I wasted the 3 hours of my life taken to read the darn thing

I was brave, I was bold, I was fearless
I was famous for the things that I did
I was quick on the draw as I tidied up the floor
So they called me the Orinoco Kid

"Dead Ball" is a term from american football. It just means that the ball is on the field but not able to be scored with. For example when they are measuring for a first down, the ball is on the field and being used but it is considered 'dead.' (You can't knock the ref out of the way and run it in for a TD. Well you could but you would be fined and the TD wouldn't count.
)When a pass is incomplete the ball is considered 'dead' as soon as it hits the turf.

I thought Gridiron was a man's sport?
Even in the namby-pamby football we have here (soccer to you on the otherside of the pond) if the ref get's in the way, that's his own fault. Hell, if you kick the ball hard enough to knock the ref over (without making it look to obvious!) then you get a round of applause from both sets of supporters!

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Yes would be much more blood bowl like, though I doubt you'd get many people wanting to be refs if they suddenly became targets.
I often wondered that about BB, why would anyone want to be a ref? It's safer being a player on the BB field than a ref alot of the times (the 2ed fluff was great, some players rated for ref CAS, etc), how many times do the fans get the ref in a game? I always thought that it would make sense to have the refs be big ogres who would inforce the rules ruthlessly (see Heresy's Deathball Boris ref fig). Bring back Galak Skyscraper (the one in the game, not talking about Tom), a big giant inforcing the rules in a bloody free-for-all game makes sense (but then you'd have to modify the rules, no more getting the ref, he gets you!)

I believe the writer only had experience as a sports novelist, I don't think that he had any Blood Bowl experienceJeremiah Kool wrote:Maybe the writer has only knowledge of second edition...Orinoco wrote:...
