So I guess it's Plan B...those "Eternal Guard" for the line elves.
Why? Its plastic, just grind of the quivers and patch and damage up with GS, it will be way easier then working with the all metal eternal guard.
I'm not very confident in my ability to patch up the quiver damage believably. With the Eternal Guard, all I'll have to do is cut off the weapons pretty much...at least from what I can tell. Is there something else about them I should know?

With experience you can pretty much do anything you want with any figure without fustration. Personally I would rather cut off a weapon on a metal fig than carve off major details and repair on a plastic fig. I'm sure the plastic guys would look great but that's a whole lot of work for some play pieces...

Problem is that a weapon snip will just make them look like eternal guard without weapons, using the plastic you'd be able to make them look like WE playing bloodbowl, but then again, maybe that is more work then you'd like.

i don't know, those eternal guard poses look relatively dynamic and football-ish.

and if i had gotten the glade guard to work out, i would only have snipped bows from them too.

i'm not really much of a conversion person, so yeah that's probably more work than i'd like. at any rate i'm still pretty much guaranteed a better and more original team than the 3rd ed "elves in tights" wood elf BB figs.

I'm not sure about those Eternal guard figs. SOME of them are nice for BB but others aren't so conversion friendly. You have have to make some hand swaps.

ever hear anything more about this mel?

i'm starting to think maybe I will use the plastic glade guard after all, and just go sans cloaks. it still has potential.

Last I heard he had chosen the stuff he was gonna use and was gonna bring them to our next league night to show me what was left.

I'll shoot him an e-mail to remind him. :)

well I went ahead and bought the box set of Glade Guard anyway. I'm going to start it off without the cloaks and see what I think about how they look. This of course also means my elves won't have heads on them either, because the heads are done both with cloak hoods and without...

at any rate, if they look fine without the cloaks then we'll just do them that way, and put the bare, cloakless heads on them. if not, then i'll try to snip those quivers as best i can and see how it goes. those figs just have so much more personality than the 3rd ed wood elf bb figs that it seems like i have to try it.

so i'll be having glade guard as line elves, and 2 will be converted to throwers. i think i'm going to use spellsingers for wardancers. still haven't figured out what i'm going to do for catchers yet though... ideas?

for the treeman, i have 2 old warhammer trees. i also bought a new warhammer treekin, and I'm going to paint that up and see if it works. it's a lot smaller than a real treeman, so it'd be a lot more manageable on the pitch. but if it looks TOO small to be a believable ST6, then I have the real trees as the backup plan.

anyway, wish me luck, we'll see how this goes!

combine the old warhammer treemen with the new treekin parts, would make some cool looking branches etc.

that's a bloody brilliant idea! of course, my issue with the old tree was that he was too big, and this would make him bigger, but I'd imagine that would look pretty sweet...could be worth it. :)
