Handicap Table Messup

Post by Kri »

This is a strange one that happened to me last night:

I had twelve players availible for the game. My opponent rolls I AM THE GREATEST! and IN THE BAG!

Example: Player A has most SPP and can´t therefor participate in the drive since I have to field my 11 worst players. Player B and C refuses to be on the same set-up because they are the greatest.

WHAT HAPPENS??? :o
a) I can´t field A and play with 10 players and have to choose between B and C?
b) I can field A and play with 11 players and have to choose between B and C?

(We played with a since he played a DE-team with TR=127 and I a HE-team with TR=254) 8)

Besides: if you read IN THE BAG! literally, you can only field your eleven worst players on the teamroster. IE, if four of your worst players can´t participate in the drive (M´s, KO´s) you´ll only be able to field seven players and can´t replace them with higherranking players??? :-?

Bad luck, eh...

I would consider two moments:
* the first kick-off (start of first drive)
* a kick-off after a TD or start of second drive.

In the first case I would say "a) is the correct answer".
In any other case (the second of the list) your second options seems to me more reasonable.
bye

I was in the lead the entire game and didn´t recieve any injuries so I played with 10 players the entire game. (Won 6-3, 5-0 in CAS)

I would say that you had to play your 11 worst *available* players, but since two of them still would not play together. You would still play 11 guys, without ever fielding that two players together.

From the rules:
Roll on the table and apply the result immediately if
you can.
That would i this situation mean, that A has already been put aside and cannot participate in the first drive (in the bag), before the next roll (I am the Greatest) takes place.
However, in any subsequent drives: I would also use the term "11 worst available players"

The MBBL2 changed it to say the 11 worst AVAILABLE players for the drive.

Yes it is defenitely the 11 worst available per drive. Which in our league has basically given the team with the higher TR a blanket excuse to foul, striving for the ejection of the rookie so that on the next drive their main muscle can get back in. An ugly but effective method of overcoming this handicap.
