New Skill: Rough Tackle.

Post by plasmoid »

We've been using this skill in my league for quite some time now. It's the only homemade skill that we are using.

Strength skill: Rough tackle.
An opponent leaving a square in this players tacklezone must pay an additional point of MA to do so. If the opponent fails a dodge roll when leaving, he suffers a +2 modifier to the armor roll.

Furthermore, when an opponent fails a dodge roll out of a square in the players tacklezone, the player treats this injury as the result of a block, for the purpose of using skills and gaining SPPs.

Sounds cool, kind of like a stronger version of guard. I bet its a great skill to have against teams with alot of dodge in them like elves and skaven. We are using bounty rules in our league -a player is pissing you off put a bounty on his head- its working realy well at the mo.

Not sure about this one, it seems a little too powerfull. The extra MA yes, and the treating any casualties caused as if by a block I like, but the plus 2 to the armour roll is a little extreme I feel.

And I think diving tackle would probably become non existent.

But I am biast being an Elf coach.

I like the +MA, and even the armor roll bonus, but you can't count SPPs that way, what if two guys with Rough Tackle were standing next to each other, would they split the SPPs, or both get 2 SPPs for one event? Neither work.

If there was two rough tackle players together, their coach should decide who made the tackle, and I still think it should count as a casualty as the player has beenman handeled to the floor.

Hi all,
this skill is on it's 3rd year in my league.
I'm 100% certain that it is not too powerful.

>I bet its a great skill to have against teams with alot of dodge in them like elves and

>skaven.

>Not sure about this one, it seems a little too powerfull. [snip] but the plus 2 to the

>armour roll is a little extreme I feel.
>And I think diving tackle would probably become non existent.

See, the thing is that this skill doesn't in any way make players fail their dodge rolls.
That's why it doesn't replace diving tackle or tackle at all.

The skill is mainly taken for the MA reduction, as a defensive measure.
It does help somewhat against 1 turn scorers, and that is good now that they can no longer

be stopped by the wizard.

The casualties and AV bonus is mostly an addition for flavour. Wham!.
I mean how often do players really fail dodge rolls, and how often would they then be

standing next your rough tackle player.

BTW, the MA reduction does not accumulate if you have multiple rough tackle zones on the

same player.

>I like the +MA, and even the armor roll bonus, but you can't count SPPs that way, what if

That problem is not generated by this skill - it was there already.
Consider this: A multiple block player fails his block and gets injured. Which one of the

defenders gets the SPP?

We use the rule that a casualty can only ever be assigned to 1 player - coach's choice.

Martin :)
