New 2nd ed skills?
Would anyone out there like to see any of the 2nd ed. skill resurrected?
i'd vote for Distract, and if the kicking rules are being used, Up and Under.

There was a discussion on up and under earlier and I repeat myself when I say that it would be the first choice for any team:
it
- makes 1-turn touchdowns impossible
- denies the opportunity to try to pick up the ball on the first turn for the opponent
- forces the opponent to defend the area where the ball is going to land instead of being able to play his own tactics, thus forcing the opponent to use a completely different approach to the first turn.
No-one should even consider this skill.
Distraction would be on the lines of Thick Skull - it's nice to have it, but who'd bother to take it as a new skill, given that there are so many better alternatives?

Give him the catch skill (and may Nerves of Steel) and you've got a player who'll pull of more than his fair share of interceptions, and cause a few fumbles.

I think up and under is a little too powerful under 3rd ed. I can't envisage losing a game if I had this skill, you'd kick, almost certainly score, then kick again. Rinse, repeat.

Up and Under was random for when it came down. 1-3 end of opponents turn, 4-6 end of your next turn, and you still worked out where it would land when you kicked it, so your opponent has plenty of time to organize a defense.
But yeah, in a fixed length game that BB is now, as opposed to the old "1st to 3 TD" you're probably right in that it's too powerful, so I withdraw my support.

especially with the Pass Block combo
That's true.
Still, it won't be one of the more popular skills.
