Rerolls are for burning and that's why a Chaos team should start with 3 rerolls and 9FF.

It is a true point that orcs attract a lot of coaches, but i wouldn't say a lot of poor coaches, may be a lot of newbie coaches, that want to learn the game. Orcs are great to start playing Blood Bowl with. They excuse mistakes easily, because they have high AV and don't have solid stats. You can the passing game and the bashing game. Everything you have to know for playing blood bowl.
Sure they could try humans too, but they are not so stabile, but can try the passing game much better then orcs.
Humans and Orcs are the best rosters for starting coaches.
But humans aren't that succesful then orcs, 'cos they suffer more injuries from bashing opponents.
Orcs are a nice team for beginners and a succesfull team in the hands of a good coach, but they aren't very challenging to play in my opinion.

Since Fumbbl is still down, and i was bored...

further to my point about the gold generation structure favouring bashy teams far more and that a structure where players where replaced for free when killed leading to a move even league.

this would necesitate removing the present gold factor from games and i thought that a post match table could be fun aswell as robust.

Given that all teams would have about 13 players in starting roster and have free replacements: Winninf teams would get +10 on thier dice losing teams -10 on a table something like this

1.1: Betrayed! : A Lineman leaves for another team, lose the lowest skilled player permanently
1.2: Unimpressed Fans : the fans are unimpressed by the game, lose 1 FF
1.3: That doesn’t’ Work! : A play you worked on doesn’t work after all, lose 1 re-roll
1.4: More serious than he thought! : One of your injured players gets a niggling injury, he is out for 2 games. Choose 1 at random from the players injured at the end of the game.
1.5: Re-occurring injury: 1 of your players with a niggling injury must miss the next game.
1.6: The Grass is greener: one of you coaches leaves for one of you rivals, lose 1 coach
2.1: It’s a Boy! : One of you players wives has a baby, lose him for the next game
2.2: Try again: you may re roll if you choose
2.3: False promise : the promise of new players comes to nothing
2.4: Gran comes to stay
2.5: Yawnfest: nothing much happening here.
2.6: New Orcidas Match ball : your team trails the all new Orcidas match ball gain 1 FF for this game
3.1: slow week: nothing much going on.
3.2: Mercenary: gain 1 lineman for your next game, but for 1 game only.
3.3: The Professor : the professor from the Nuffle collage of football is on his coaching tour, gain 1 coach for the next game
3.4: Well prepared : you may re-roll the first kick off next game
3.5: Good rub down :hired a masseuse one of you players ignores a niggling injury next game
3.6: Inspiring performance: the fans are inspired, gain 1 FF for your next game
4.1: When I was a lad : your old man passes on some sage advice, gain 1 re-roll for your next match.
4.2: Traveling minstrel : a traveling band ask to play at your next game: gain 1 cheerleader for 1 game
4.3: Boogie flicking contest: Moral is high ignore any niggles for your next game
4.4: Using the big lad : You train hard with your Big Guy he can use team re rolls next game.
4.5: Boy wonder!: One of your players gains a cult following, gain 1 FF while he is in the team.
4.6: Wandering Meteorologist: you choose the weather for the kick off next game.
5.1: Youth Cup Final: one of the players attracts the eye, gain 1 lineman permanently
5.2: I’ll help you coach: one of you past players lends a hand: Gain 1 coach.
5.3: Miss Blood bowl 2409!: you attract the services of a beauty queen, gain 1 cheerleader permanently
5.4: Miracle Cure: one of you players with an injury recovers fully
5.5: What’s up Doc?: Your apothecary has a new treatment gain 1 extra Apo roll next game
5.6: Performance of the season: Wow what a game gain 1 FF permanently
6.1: Fans go Crazy! : The fans, they love you.. Gain 1 FF permanently
6.2: We got us some more fodder boss: a Lineman joins your team
6.3: Work Them Hard Coach!: Gain 1 re-roll permanently
6.4: Extra Training: you least skilled player is embarrassed by how poor he is and works himself to a frenzy. Any non-positional player may go to the next skill SPP and gain a skill
6.5: Blow to the head: randomly pick one player that ended the match injured he gains Frenzy for the next match
6.6: Attract a young star: gain 1 positional player of your choice

Sure it's not perfect but it does have Fluff coming out of the ying yang and i believe would allow elf teams to compete on a more even playing field in longer tourneys.

Bashy teams would still have more skilled players since they would lose less but it would remove the excuse of losing players as a reason not to play bashy teams.

I have probably put this in the wrong place and it is pretty radical so i don't expect anything to come of it but like i said i was bored.

Why? Its offtopic but why should that bother you? Is it a big deal? Also if topics didnt stray off topic then the forum would be full of really boring threads.

It isnt getting political, it isnt getting abusive, its not contraversial in the slightest, yet you want it lock because its "off topic". We're talking about bloodbowl. That cant be a crime can it?

*edit* I dont want to start a flame war with this post, and I dont want you to justify why it should be locked. Just a little rant about locking threads that people enjoy :) thats all.

We are still talking about fumbbl and what we want to do when it comes online. The people who doesn't want that can go and watch this thread: viewtopic.php?t=15551 while the rest of us tries to entertain ourselves on fumbbl thoughts.

Having a fixed number of starting players would get rather cumbersome but having a discount on replacement players would really help to make the game more even. Giving you a free replacement lineman whenever you suffers a death would be enough to make sure that coaches still spends GPs on positionals but aren't too wrecked by bashing teams.

Blood Bowl game - $60
Cost of a Human Team - $40
The look on your opponents face as his one-turn scorer gets taken down by a thrown rock from the fans – Priceless.

Didn't the Star Players book for the 1st/2nd (?) edition provide the option of hiring makeweights? These were basic lineman that had reduced stats, couldn't progress but were free. I think re-introducing makeweights might be enough to help agility teams through those rough patches as they'd be a better option than freebooters but not going as far as gifting them with free players.
