Don't understand a particular rule or just need to clarify something? This is the forum for you. With 2 of the BBRC members and the main LRB5/6 writer present at TFF, you're bound to get as good an answer as possible.
Zombie wrote:I've always read the rule that way and never had any problem with it. In fact, you seem to be the only one who's having a problem here. I don't see an incentive to change this rule.
Snots its a rare event... but I'm in full agreement with Zombie here. I don't find it cheese, I don't have a problem with it, and I really don't feel a need for the rule to be clarified at all.
If you want to email the BBRC members and request this that's fine, but really ... why? Do you really think that there are army of Treeman out in BB land waiting to take Pass Block???
Well I agree with Snots - the proper interpretation of the rule must surely be the movement is reduced to a maximum of 3. The 3 is there to ensure that catchers cannot move 9 squares to pass block not to say that everyone can move 3 squares. Having a Tree move 3 squares on a Pass Block is just plain silly...
That said, I don't have a problem with allowing Trees to move 3 squares on a Pass Block. However, that IMO is not the correct interpretation.
If you don't have a problem with the fact that gutter runners can't move anymore than longbeards on a pass block, then you aknowledge the fact that it has nothing to do with the player's MA, so there's no reason why the treeman shouldn't get 3 as well.
Methinks Zombie that they are trying to drive a truck through the up to 3 squares movement and say that the MA 2 limits the up to.
Like I said I agree with you .. its clear that Pass Block is not supposed to be tied to MA at all. Any argument otherwise makes me wonder why a Pass Blocking Mummy is as quick as a Gutter Runner as you stated.
Simply said: there's not one good reason why we should add extra text to the rules to change the interpretation of pass block.
Currently, the rules make Pass Block independent of players MA. Period.
If we want to change that, there should be a reason to do so. And I just can't see why passblocking trees are such an unbalancing factor that we should change rules because of that!

Well, while we're on this topic (and I should probably post this in skills and traits queries, but I've started, so I'll post it here), does anyone think that Pass block should be re-addressed, apart from making it conducive with Jump Up? Maybe have it tied to a players movement divided by 2, rounded down, to a minimum 2? This would mean
Rookie Gutter runners/catchers/wardancers etc Pass Block 4 spaces
Rookie Human/high elf/wood elf Linemen pass block 3 spaces
Most Blockers eg Mummies/Chaos Warriors will pass block 2 spaces
And players lucky enough to develop movement 10 would pass block 5 spaces
Really? I thought what I suggested was fairly simple and easy to follow, plus being more in keeping with what would happen in real life. Most people would automatically know how far their Pass Blockers could move (and if they don't, then they really should be able to work it out).
Thought I was onto something there..... guess I'll just go sulk
This is a grey area Ian, as it is 3 MA to stand up and passblock is 3 squares of movement. I have always played it this way locally for non-treemen who want to get in the way/make the interception attempt.
as we agree that pblock is non-MA related this should allow automatic stand-up.
