less than three guys at kickoff
what is the protocol for setting up if a team has less than three guys to put on the line due to injuries? even worse, what happens if there are none?

Official reply coming in October ... ie its on the list of BBRC questions:

For now, my ruling has always been the game go on as long as the player with 2 players wants it to go on, and I'm hoping this will continue to be the rule after October.

By no means is this official, and I am sure if I am wrong then one of the more veteran coaches will correct me.
In our league we play that you must put all your remaining players on the front line if you have less than 3 players. And if you have no players, then the game carrie on with the other team just running in for TD after TD.
This reminds me of an epic 5-0 victory with a dwarf team, after wiping out the entire opposition by turn 6.

My league rules:
If 3 or less, yes they all have to be on the line of scrimage.
If no players, you STILL have to kick off to the empty side of the pitch and roll on the kickoff table. This way you still have to pick up the ball .. touchbacks we've allowed the "receiving" coach to place the ball anywhere in his half of the pitch.

That's what I think too. No forced conceivings. And if those two players are fast, agile and skilled enough, there just might be a chance of scoring

If a team that is kicking has no players to put on the field, is it an automatic touchback for the receiving coach then? This would seem to make sense to me, as there is no-one to kick the ball, the umpire automatically gives it to a player from the receiving team. Also, in this case, is the kick-off table still used? (I'd say yes, as it's really more of a "random events" table anyway).

What I really want to hear is HOW is the KICKING team going to have no players on the pitch.bingbong186 wrote:If a team that is kicking has no players to put on the field, is it an automatic touchback for the receiving coach then? There are only three ways this could happen:
1) The other team was decimated and lost all of their players by the end of the 1st half and are supposed to kickoff at the start of the 2nd half.
2) You are playing with players with Off for a Bite or Unstable and you score and then all your remaining players fail their rolls.
3) You only have one guy left and your opponent plays Unsportsmanlike Conduct on him (what a bastard your opponent is if he does this BTW) or you had used Heroic Effort on him and he KOs or worse himself. This of course assumes special play card use.
Otherwise than these 3 situations, the guy who just scored the touchdown will be around for the next drive.

Okay that was my huh part of the answer ... mostly meant in fun. The serious answer to your query is:
In my two leagues and many others that I know of, if the Kicking team cannot set up anyone not in a WideZone or the LOS, then it is an automatic touchback for the receiving team and yes, you still roll on the kickoff table.

Sorry Galak, my question was really aimed at the first instance, which has happened once or twice in my league, mainly when the team had received a mauling in their previous match, and not had that many players available for the game to start with
. Happily, I was the coach that had done the mauling beforehand.

I'll do you guys one better...
A player in out league actually came back from a 2-0 deficit with only 4 players.
He had already used up his cards, there was no odd weather or anything else. He just capitalized on some lucky rolls for him and some bad rolls for his opponent.
It was an amazing game!
