Undead Starting Line up
I was trying to sort out how to best start an Undead team for League play.
Either:
2 Mummy 200
2 Wight 180
1 Ghoul 70
6 Zombie/Skeleton 180
4 Re-Roll 280
9 Fan Factor 90
OR:
2 Mummy 200
3 Wight 270
2 Ghoul 140
4 Zombie/Skeleton 120
3 Re-Roll 210
6 Fan Factor 60
Most people understand the Difference between 6 & 9 Fan Factor by now. (18 Fan Factor gives 61,000 Fans & 12 Fan Factor give 41,000 Fans).
So it comes down to the value of taking 4 Re-Rolls or just 3 but more AG 3 guys to play the Ball early on. Having no ability to purchase an Apothcary after the first game with the 9 Fan Factor starting line up the intention would be to purchase either a Ghoul or Wight depending on winnings. With the 6 Fan Factor line up you dont really need anything else in any real hurry, except more Players in General and more Re-Rolls, which is why I was figuring the first line up. More Cash coming in to purchase Players which your going to want to purchase anyway and your going to save 70K in the long run on the Re-Roll.

I went for
2 Mummies
2 Wights
2 Ghouls
3 Skellies
3 Zombies
3 Rerolls
9 Fan Factor
My thinking was to keep a good number of rerolls with max fan factor, 4 ball handlers, and a reserve.
The reserve was the key thing here as the undead team lacks armour but paradoxically relies heavily on outnumbering their opponents.
Incidentally this was the lineup I won the Tulip Tournament with so I can vouch for its all-round effectiveness against rookie teams.

The decision rest really with how many re-rolls you can fit in compared to FF.
I tried a team with only 2 re-rolls with three Ghouls and three Wights, but the Mummies eat my re-rolls only to quickly, with Skulls and both downs, leaving my team no re-rolls for ball handling. problem is you need too use the Mummies to get the SPP's up so they can get block early.

Skip the Ghouls
I sort of like your second line up but Ghouls can be a rather nasty liability in the early going. Why not try:
2 Mummy 200
3 Wight 270
6 Zombie/Skeleton 180
4 Re-Roll 280
7 Fan Factor 60
Your FF is still high enough to get cash (and, thus, your Ghouls) and you have three ball carriers with Block/Regen. It also allows you to start with a fourth reroll, something that is way too darn expensive to be buy anytime in the team's immediate future.
This line up forces you to do some ball carrying with your Wights, a good thing since Ghouls tend to suck up the SPPs with their Dodge/MA7. You won't be able to play much elf-ball with this line-up but you should be able to smack your opposition around pretty well with the mummies and play some pretty good defense with your Zombies/speedbumps.

Well you may want more rerolls but I started an Undead team with this lineup and made it to the finals.
2 Mummies/200k
2 Ghouls/140k
3 Wights/270k
3 Zombies/90k
2 Skeletons/60k
9 Fan Factor/90k
2 Rerolls/140k
Save the extra 10k for after that first game. I really don't worry about the rerolls too often. I use them only when absolutely neccessary. Anyway this gives you a solid base with almost a full squad of wights while allowing you to get 2 ghouls leveled up. I developed one of my wights into a ball handler as soon a possible(sure hands, pass with double 1s). The other 2 wights took tackle as soon as they could. The Ghouls were luck with MV upgrades w/ catch and block.

Here's what i use:
2 mummies
4 ghouls
5 skeletons/zombies
4 RR
9 FF
You get the 4 RR and 9 FF that we both know to love and the extra AG3 guy that you asked for. In exchage, you're more prone to getting hurt, with 4 guys who can't regenerate. It's always been my personal choice and it's worked well for me.

The way played by south french players with the new rules gives something like that :
4 Wights
2 Ghouls
2 Mummies
4 Zombies/skeletons
2 rerolls
4 Fan Factor
The motto for undead teams in our leagues is, "as I don't need much money until late for replacing players (except Ghouls), why shall I give money to others with a big Fan Factor ?"
And insidiously, it's a point of view many other teams begin to share, so that teams with more than 4 FFactor are becoming museum articles (only flagrant exception, Wood Elves who must buy outrageously expensive players such as Wardancers).

I'm glad I started one thing right with this thread... not trying to seperate Skeletons from Zombies.
And most others arent trying to decide between the 2 either.
So, time to bring it up... how many of each and why?
I'd try start with at least 3 Zombies for the LOS and make the rest from Skeletons.
And In my experiences with Undead (which is limited) I still find the team too need at least 3 Re-Rolls just so it can pick up the Ball. Preferably 4 Re-Rolls tho to help the Mummies that have a habit of rolling dbl skulls.

Normally i'll always go with Zombies in preference to skeletons, just because of the higher AV. I tend to find the Skeleton extra movement something that doesn't get used, as they tend to get stuck in TZ's and with AG 2 it just isn't worth dodgeing them out. Plus the low AV, means they can get ko'd only too easily.

Hey, I know, that's what non-undead teams like myself USED to play on, but with the money spared on the FF, people here prefer to buy more rerolls ore more players while they are cheap (as we don't use any free reroll system in leagues) and let the Dice God choose for the kickoff table...McDeth wrote: dont forget the kick off table, a failed get the ref etc can be s aserious drawback.
Quite a Chaotic way of thinking, no ?
