On the pinning ... i did not do it. I used the sandwich method: greenstuff between the metal parts. Wait until dried completely. then snap it and glue it back with superglue. Wait a couple of hours. Try to snap again. If it works, glue again, if not, it's tight enough.
Most critical join are the arms i guess. The torso-leg link is huge, lot's of surface for the glue to work, plus there's not much stress on that area usually. Head join are not much stressed either, plus the heads are light.

I've never tried that. I'm assuming it works since you mentioned it. Do you snap it twice so that each GS-metal joint breaks and you can get superglue between them. I'm guessing the final result would look something like metal body-superglue-GS-superglue-metal arm.
Do I have that right? I have access to a dremel so pinning is usually pretty straight forward but this sounds interesting. Does it work because it gives GS fills in all the irregularities in the mating surfaces and the superglue is more uniform? Any ideas?
@Tante They really are almost to big but I haven't really had many problems except when playing against Xtreme's Ogre team at the GenCon tourney. Even then, once the game got underway they spread out and things were fine. Thanks for the kind words about my Ogres. I'll have pics of a few more very soon.

Yes, snots, you imagine that correctly. the reasons why this bond is stronger than just metal-superglue-metal is that:
a, like you said: the greenstuff fills the small gaps so you end up with more surface for the glue to work on.
b, greenstuff does build a much stronger bond with superglue than metal can so. I guess that has something to do with the molecular structures.
I have a Dremel as well, but i prefer this method over pinning because it's less work, produces less dirt (i hate this metal dust) and i'm a lazy guy. It only works on joints with a large surface though.
here's a picture where you can see a little how it looks:

More Ogre Conversions ... (click on Ogres ... DUH!)

Yeah, those parts really offer endless conversion possibilities, only a little greenstuff needed.
My favorite one is the running one ... this took some effort to complete though. The pose just turned out really natural. Needs paint, though ...

nice conversions Tim...
and I hardly pin anything anymore...
a good coating of superglue and then careful ownership (i.e. not letting my clumsy-ass opponents touch my models during a game) is more than enough...
of course, if you intend to play basketball with them then I would advise pinning them and also against painting them...

Hey Tante- One other piece of advice if you're going to play these guys, have a good supply of markers avaliable to designate which Ogre is Boneheaded. From experience, you're going to want 80% of the Ogres on the pitch to have a marker. There was actually a turn I played that 5 of 5 Ogres were Bonehead. Sad but true.

If you're looking for ideas for markers how about dunces caps? I made some nice ones for my trolls out of some old cone-shaped counters (from that old GW orc game with loads of cards that I can't name but remember liking) with a green-stuffed D one them... Admittedly I stole the idea from another TBBer but it's a good one
