I think Marcus is an extremely good player. When extremely good players go on 5 game losing streaks, having won 9/10 before, then you start to look for reasons. The only significant change in his team was the introduction of the Rat Ogre.

This is not about good coaching, its about WA's being a liability against competent opposition.

I echoed Thadrin's suggestion in another forum and posted another one of my own. Check them out. I believe they're in...damn, I don't remember! :)

Well, my feeling is that a Skaven player used to get Rat Ogres to beef up the strength of the team (skavens are pretty weak). Now with the new rules, the RO has to be used in such a way that it is doesn't help at all in this department. So the Skaven Big Guy (or those who use Minotaurs) isn't used as a Big Guy should be.

For a backfield blitzer, a controllable Storm Vermin with block is better. Next skill get Strip Ball or Tackle. And its much easier to get SPP's with Storm Vermin, as they can score fairly easy if you let them.

I do agree, that as soon as you get block it gets much much better. But its the long road there thats so hard.

By the way I did try to score with the RO in the dying moments of the game. He got a touchback, and I gave the RO the ball. But I was running out of rounds, and on the final move he managed to get a Human Lineman on the back side of the RO, which meant I didn't have enough movement to get into the Endzone (I had to move backwards for the WA blitz).

It's not the fact that you are committed to declaring an action at the start of your turn, but more of you are committed to Block if standing next to a standing opposition player. Likewise as a Wild Animal is it ruled that you have to foul a player who is prone if you start the turn standing next to him. No its not. Now if he truly was a Wild Animal he would stomp the crap out of anyone on the deck.

While i can accept that the WA moves first, this is the only restriction that should apply, it should be the coaches choice if he Blocks, Dodges, Moves, Passes, whatever.

Alternatively, if it is insisted that the WA must block when starting next to a prone player, then that should only be activated when the WA is chosen to move and not a must first movement for that Turn. Therefore a coach can make any safe moves, or crucial moves before getting to his WA, if at all.

The key point here is, as Ryk mentioned, the current rules take the decision away from the WA coach. If the decision is taken away from the WA coach then there is no tactical risk associated with the trait. The risk/reward is entirely at the discretion of the opposing coach. All the WA coach can do is roll the dice and pray they don't lose their turn.

Compare this to other negative traits which can mess up your turn but can be planned around and compensated for.

I've made a suggestion under a similar thread in the BB2K1 thread that keeps the current flavour of the WA rules but removes this aspect. Go check it out.
