3rd edition in Javabowl?

However you play online - Java, Vassal, Email, Cyanide etc - talk about it here.
This is also the place for discussing the various tools for managing leagues, teams and so on.

3rd edition in Javabowl?

Post by Bretter »

I was looking at the options in Javabowl when I happened to come across the ability to play 3rd edition rules. Is this for real? Of course, I'm sure it's low on the priority list... but wow :P That would be kinda fun. Heck, maybe even 2nd edition with all the combinations, which all but guaranteed a kill in every game!

Heh. After killing 2 linos on your first two actions of our game last night, you still want a guarantee? :P

I think that the 3rd edition options (extra MVPs, old PO, and whatever else) will give you the older versions of those specific features but you're still basically playing LRB, with a few House Rules from 3rd Ed. In other words, still no SPPs from fouling and such. It's not a complete set of rules, just a few options.

yeah, sorry about that...

I was really thinking about it for OLBBL. They are looking into developing a client that offers the playability of javabowl, but with the 3rd edition rule set.

I imagine there are a few out there who would use it, but for most of the community it would remain a novelty.

I did try it out, and yeah... IGMEOY is still there, MB works on av OR inj, not both, etc. Was interesting to see it though!

i am sure ski will add the odd thing in if you ask, I was under the impression olbbl were getting a new client from elsewhere anyhoo

I think 3rd edition in jbb should follow all the basic 3rd edition rules. You will get SPP for fouling etc. I'm thinking 3rd edition frenzy has some bugs, and there might be some others. But jbb was playable before the LRB came out. There was the 4th edition out there but I wasn't paying much attention to it.
