DE Thrower cost

Post by pau »

Hi everyone!
I'm new here, so this may have been asked before and I may have missed the post but...

Is there a logic behind DE Throwers costing 90,000 gp when HE ones (with exactly the same stats 6348-Pass) cost 80,000 gp?

Am I missing any special rule making DE better than HE somewhere or are the player costs simply not supposed to be based on a single team-independent cost formula?

Thanks for any insight into this.

Pau

It's based on the fluff that DE are supposed to want to run the ball more than they want to pass, just because they don't want to be like HE's. So the passer is 10k more expensive.

In the long-run, it doesn't really change anything though. And extra 10k here or there...

If I had to guess, probably for the same reasons that the Orc Thrower costs the same as the Human Thrower but has less movement. I think the costs generally work out in team balance as a whole, as well as making some routs less or more favorable because it fits the team concept. So the individual players themselves might not be cost-balanced in direct comparison, but the team is.

Vesticle has it right ... at the end overall team balance is more important than individual players.

As for the DE Thrower ... Throwing pros are rare for DE ... its in the fluff ... so they are more expensive. DEs are supposed to be a running team.

Okay I know this is a bit out of topic ...

... but this is exactly the reason why the ally rules are so hard to
integrate in BB. The whole balance thing gets lost if you freely allow
allies from every position.

Unfortuantely thats a point many gamer are missing when they bring up their "new" version of the ally rule.

I think they should change the Dark Elf thrower to give him Sure Hands instead of Pass, and call him a Runner instead.

Allies? wash your mouth out with soap man! LETS NOT GO THERE.

Thadrin: You speak up my mind man ... and btw the idea with the skill change for the Dark Elf Thrower seems very stylish to me - excellent idea !

Thanks for your replies, gentlemen.
It certainly makes sense to fudge player costs to match a team's philosophy.
