Using eldar guardian as elves?

Post by Frozenflame »

Been thinking on using eldar guardians as elven linemen. Their armour seems like their padded rugby armour and i don't really mind the helmets. But are the backpack separate or attached? If they're attached, can i remove them without leaving a mark or using putty?

Fondu, I think he's talking about Eldar Guardians, not DE warriors

I'm just looking at a guardian, and the backpark is actually part of the model. If it wasn't for that I would say go for it. but the backpack is just too much. you can try to get rid of it but that would probably be too much trouble. I could see guardian legs with high elf torso's from fantasy, but the cost would probably be prohibitive.

The backpacks are part of the model, and are non-removable. The little thingies that stick up from them are not part of the model and are an optional add on. You can also use the helmetless heads that come on the sprue if you do not want helmets on everyone.

So if you are good with a knife, then you can remove the backpacks, but I would not bother. They are small and not to fantacy breaking. Just tell anyone that asks, that is were they keep their first aid kit, becaus elves are so fragile. :D

With a bit of conferting, you can make some realy nice Blood Bowl players out of most 40k armies boxed sets. I am currently working on the Cadian IG box set for my Sisters new human team.

I'm currently converting Eldar Guardians for a "Sci Fi/Kung Fu"-team using the Amazon roster. The neck thing of the backpack can be cut away relatively easy, and then I polish the cut off surface. Works OK.

The trouble I've gotten into is finding good heads - the helmetless ones are good, but the team will look boring if they all look like clones... I'm trying to get hold of some 'Wolverine' heads from the SM Wolves sprue right now. The High Elves bowmen heads might work, but there are no extras on those sprues.

I've been doing some head hunting over the years. I have a jewlery box filled with spare heads. mostly human and elf, with a few others mixed in. I trade for them, or beg them off friends, because a good looking team is made great by a variety of different heads. There are a few good bare dark elf heads and high elf heads that can be used on any elf team. The dark eldar head with the topnot is an especially good one. The topnot can be cut off and greenstuff put on for hair. Different hair lengths go a long way to distinguish the players from eachother.

i think i can cut the backpacks off then. I don't have lotsa spare heads but i think i'll give the blitzers elven heads (helmetless). I don't really like the fantasy DE heads coz they don't match to the rest of the armour though i have plenty of 'em. I think i've decided that i wanna do DE, now just waiting for more cash flow and thinking on how to convert the witch elves. Which ones look better? Dark Eldar Wyches or Dark Elves Witch Elves with more armour attached?

The Dark Elf Witches look the best, but are in very static poses. Also they may prove hard to convert due to weapon placment.

The Dark Eldar Wychs are mostly manwyches. But, if you can find the good looking female ones, they make good Witch Elves. As their poses are very dynamic.
