No. The "I love you" in sign language is the index and pinky finger extended adn you show the back of the hand. The one illistrated it the "rock and roll" sign used at concerts.

Hmm...still seems vaguely like the British way of flipping the bird. Then again, the fig could only be raising the middle finger...I think even non-North Americans would recognize that one.

Actually as Ian elludes to the jesture is said to be derived from English archers 'reminding' the French that their archery fingers were still there.

And as a side note, it was actually Welsh Longbowmen rather than native Englishmen.. Though they were still fighting for the English army so they were classed as English
