When is the best time to start E-bay auctions?

So I was wondering while ploting to put another little group of E-bay auctions on E-bay (link to be added to this topic soon ):

When is the best time to start your E-bay auctions?

A Monday morning, to catch people when they are back at work and sciving, desperate to not do any 'real work'?

A Saturday afternoon, so you have a very large audience (including the nipper market who would be at school on a Monday morning)?

Doesn't make a difference?

I didn't vote. I only run 5 day auctions since I've found little difference in the money they fetch vs a 7 day auction. I haven't run a 7 day auction in so long I don't remember how the hits pan out but my shorter auctions have been quite successfull.

That said. I like my auctions to close Sunday morning. It seems even people with hangovers will crawl out of bed to bid on an auction. Saturdays it seems like people aren't home and some will end without bids.

EBay runs hot and cold. What didn't sell this week will go "hot" next week. Do what's convenient for you.

I think a more aprpreate question is when is the best time to end an auction? I say Friday or Saturday. I think most normal people get paid then(not me) and you will see a faster payment if they know they will have the cash to cover.

I'd agree with that - when it ends is more important as you want people to be able to bid right up to the end.

I reckon the best time for the auction to close is Sunday night (GMT) because then the US bidders can bid on Sunday morning while the Europeans can stay up - its normally the last few hours that set the final price.

Well after all these seriously good suggestions I drank a bit (& then alot more ) and so:

I usually start my auctions on thursday evening to run 10 days, ending saturday evening. I found this to be the best format reaching the highest end price.

- you cover two complete weekends, giving people time to find and review your auction.
- if starting at 1 Euro/$, the price usually stays quite low during the first 7-8 days, so many interested people will add the auction to their watch list. (quite a bargain!)
- sunday afternoon/evening is a time where most people are at home so to try the snipe.
- on the other hand, some people are not at home on sunday (visiting family, etc.) and they might put in a good bid on friday/saturday if they are interested.

The combo of the last two is the best to get a good price.

A buddy told me about snipe websites that you can use that will put in a bid the last minute of an ebay auciton. Personally, I prefer to snipe it meslef just so I know I got it.
