2nd ed. treeman

Post by valedictor »

Anyone got one they would like to part with? I can offer £15.00 (and throw in a couple of miniatures as a thank you from a prospective future halfling head coach who is desperate to complete his roster!)

By the way, how much does the unhelmeted version tend to command on Ebay? Not seen one for a long time. Would prefer him to the helmeted guy, just so they look a little different, although not really that bothered.

Is it true he was the basis for GW's first attempt at Treebeard many years ago? Sure I read that somewhere once, and would be interested in finding out more about his career change from tree shepherd to stunty-chucka.

The unhelmeted version IS Treebeard from GW's first attempt at LOTR. Galak put him on his list so, now, everyone calls him a BB Treeman. Originally he wasn't. He does work though.

I have a few extra Treemen, none of the Treebeards though. Send me an email and I'll get one out to you.

Sorry, no extra treeman (already traded away that one) and only 1-2 halflings to spare. :( Good luck to you, anyway!

As I said aprox. one year ago, I don't consider the helmetless Treemen as BB miniatures. when I saw them first hanging in their blister in my local comic book store back in 1987 there were clearly labeled LotR minis. I only consider the two helmet variants as BB minis and that's why I own only those :D

GW had used the variants without helmet as BB miniatures (in pictures, on Games Days etc.) after they lost the LotR licence and incorporated all the LotR minis in their WFB/WFRPG lines. I don't know if that was planned or just a freak idea by some staff or in-studio joke. It even could be that the BB Treemen was copied according to their Fantasy Treeman (that was had officially become of Treebeard) plus a helmet and shoulder pads.
