Dr. Faust can explain it better than I can. This is basically what I do.
Just click on Painting Flesh and choose a lesson.

I use less layers than Dr. Faust, but it works for me. Firstly I paint the skin Snakebite Leather. After that I drybrush with Bronzed Flesh and make sure I touch most of the skin. This way the crevices and sides next to clothes stay brown. As a finishing touch I use Elf Flesh to highlight the needed things (noses and such).

Dwarf Flesh, Chestnut Wash, Dwarf Flesh, mix of Dwarf and Elf Flesh, Elf Flesh...
you can start darker or lighter depending on the look you want...
applying a slight purple/red colour (Fire Dragon Cromson it used to be called) to a Dwarf's nose makes him look alcoholic!

Dwarf flesh-dwarf flesh/Bronzed flesh-Bronzed flesh.
Thats what I used on this lot:

Hard to do more layers most of the time with dwarfs not showing a great deal of flesh. (That's probably a good thing).
Tattoos on slayers can hide rough spots.

On Boris here I start off with Bronzed Flesh, then I use a mix of a lighter Bronzed Flesh (I think it was a mix of Bronzed Flesh and Bleached Bone) and paint up the higher parts for highlighting. Then I get my Flesh Wash, put just a little on the brush, and brush in the recessed areas for shading. Then I finish it off with a little bit of highlighting with Bleached Bone.

For a ruddy flesh tone, start with a basecoat of vermin brown and blend and layer your way upwards from Dwarf Flesh to Elf Flesh (and Pallid Flesh for very extreme highlights). For more brownish skin, start with snakebite leather and do the highlights with vomit brown, bronzed flesh and bleached bone.
