Don't understand a particular rule or just need to clarify something? This is the forum for you. With 2 of the BBRC members and the main LRB5/6 writer present at TFF, you're bound to get as good an answer as possible.
I think I know the answer if I read the LRB correctly. Just that a friend doubts my honest opinion (and I don't blame him) so I want to know for sure.
My friend has a Skaven team. On the long term he wants to have 4 rat ogres in the field. I said that's not possible because:
A. You can buy one Big Guy in your team
B. Unless it's a league match where you have to hire them, you can buy:
1. Hakflem Skuttlespike
2. Headsplitter
(I'm guessing they are both RO's. Doesn't mention that in the LRB.)
That would make 3 in total and no more. Am I correct?
You can only have one BIG GUY thats correct.
Not sure if you can hire a star player Rat Ogre (only Headsplitter is RO, Hakflem is not) if you have one allready.
I believe you can only hire star players if the position you hire them for is not allready full, but as is aid i am not sure of it.

Star players are NOT big guys. Even the ones that are.
To count as a big guy the player must specifically be stated to have the "Big guy" racial characteristic. The stars don't (or at least, didn't last time I checked.)

Yes, you can have two:
One as your normal Big Guy Rat-Ogre and the one who's a Star Player. Star Players do not count towards positional player or Big Guy Slots.
So a Goblin Team could have 2 Rookie Ogres, the Ogre star and the Troll Star.
I highly recommend that you use Stars properly, that means you have to pay half their price for every game, else you'll ruin your league.

In our league we have agreed that e.g. Griff counts against the limit for Blitzers on a humie team.
He doesn't. Star Players are not player positions. Even a team with a full roster is able to hire a "position Star Player". The same goes for Big Guys.

are you sure about the full roster? I thought that you had to have one free slot to freeboot a player.

Well, you're right with the number of players (LRB, p. 42). Thank you.
