DE Team
Hey I'm new to Blood Bowl
I starting up a Dark Elf Team called 'The Dark Bladers'
It cosists of
6 Linemen
1 Witch Elf
3 Blitzers
1 Thrower
1 Re-Roll
and a fan factor of 2
Can anyone give me some tips?

Buy 3 re-rolls and get a FF of about 9. Then start buying your players. You won't get much but you will develop much better in the long run. Your setting yourself up for trouble with the starting line up you have plumped for.

it's a good roster, but choose a lineman instead of your trhower, and ad some FF.Ryan wrote:OK after a Little re-work on the Team it now looks like this
1 Thrower
2 Blitzers
8 Linemen
2 Team Re-Rolls
and a Fan Factor of 5
I've also found a Name Generatot so that base is covered as well

you'll buy your thrower later!

7 FF is really the Minimum with any elf team. The aforementioned 2 Blitz, 9 line, 2rr, 7 FF has been my most successful. I have played around with quite a few.
If you go much lower in the FF you really get hurt on the earnings, possibly not even getting your apoth after the first game. That alone could really set you back especcially if you are unlucky enough to take some permanant (including death) injuries in your first game.
I also tried starting with less than 2 RR's. AG 4 means that everything is a 2+ but any decent opponent will make you roll at least 8 of those a turn, meaning that you are most likely going to blow something and, according to Murphy, something big.
Throwers are a must for any later elf team, but Dark elves can go quite a long way without one. So I definately would lose that.
Remember:
Your linemen are position players.
Your Witchelves strike fear into your opponent, and can push or pull a game back into your favor.
But your Blitzers are your Bread and Butter. Start with a few, and then fill them out, and in order to do that you need money, and high FF to start.

Most agree that high FF (7+) is needed by the elf teams and I'll go with the two blitzers nine lineelves any time BUT notice that Ryan is new to BB.
As a rookie you are likley to start the team over once you have played a few games and realised all the mistakes you've made - and as a rookie it will be hard to play without a few skills so maybe a low FF and some positionplayers are not so bad after all
best,
Rupert

Sorry if you got that impression. I dont think anyone was attacking - I think Ryan got good advice. What I was suggesting was an alternative approach cos he is a rookie and I was suggesting that maybe the best starting line is not the best for a rookie who are in the process of learning the game?
I say there are two alternatives, Ryan:
1) You listen to the good advice and make a starting team with high FF (7 or more) and at least two RR's. This is if you think you will stay with the team and you build for long term play.
2) You go with many positionplayer and low FF This will learn you the use of some skills and give you some nice plays to boost your enjoyment - but you will have to start the team over after some games.
What I would advice against is that you place your self between two chairs with FF 3-6.
best,
Rupert

Well if he is going to play one-off games, which he should be doing to get the feel of things, I would recommend a different roster.Rupert wrote:2) You go with many positionplayer and low FF This will learn you the use of some skills and give you some nice plays to boost your enjoyment - but you will have to start the team over after some games.
Something like This team.
You get all your positions, and decent rerolls. But by no means would I recommend that for league play.

Point taken, but I would still start with a League team and learn on the go. At least you keep the same team. You the search option on this site to learn about tactics and skills.
