Argh! 1st skill for a Ratogre and it's a double! What now?

Post by narkotic »

I have a Skaven team TR173 that has to play the finals in the near future.

Regardless of the success of my team me Rat Ogre has at least gained his 1st skill. It took him 4 matches, primarily bc. I played him very cautous and mainly as a back field defence, still he cuased me some turnovers as you might imagine.

To be a little more in control of him I gave one of my linerats Leader.

So what to do? Give him Block to make him more reliable but waste the double? Or give him RSC (or Claw) to increase his CAS an dwait another 6 matches for his next skill until he's reliable

Or Dodge? What would you do?

Difficult indeed...
How close is that final (how many games left) and What is the other team going to be?

For the long run i would take RSC (not claw, you want Piling On)

You only need 5 casualties to get him his next skill...that's possible in 3? games...(i would try to play against woodelves before your final)

No, it's a scheduled league and we're in the play-offs. The fact that I will play the finals as the next match should not infleunce the skill pick decision (I thought he would never get his first skill anyway)

The finals will most probably against Dwarfs or bashy Human (maybe Dark Elfs but I don't think so).

With MB/RSC he can get his 5 casualties faster than before, but he won't be blocking any better until then. He usually does throw only 4-6 blocks per game as I keep him out of trouble and only field on defence.

If you're never going to use this team again, take block. In a single game against dwarves and bashy humans it'll make him much more effective for the role you've chosen for him.

If the team will advance into the future, take the claws.

I'd probably go for the RSC normally, but going into a tournament final makes block sound extremely attractive. Especially if you might be facing dwarves.

Why not dodge? He got ag3 after all... and it makes him harder to beat down

Or stand firm, then you can play with loopholes in the rules

Dodge would be a good choice if RSC wouldn't be availabe. With MB you'll have +1/+2 available, and this is bound to help you reach the second skill quicker. Which ought to be block. Third skill POn.
