Block + 1 kick (If you don't already have one.)

But this should probably be moved to the Tactics and team development forum.

I I would probably have gone for block on all players even though kick is useful i hate more not having block on my elven players.

Definetely kick for one of them (unless you already have kick). Then block, of course. If you have kick already, give all of them block.

I'd take Kick, Block, Dodge to have some variety.

Having 1 player with dodge often helps for some more risky plays.

I would also consider to take a Dirty Player if you dont already have one. So my choice would be block, kick and dirty player....and then take block when they advance the second time.

Kick 1st.

Then block on the next 3 line elves to get a normal skill, and then dodge on the next couple.

Why do you all go for kick right away? I like it on really fast teams, but on rooky darkelves allmost everyone has ma6...you cannot really take advantage of that well-placed ball.

I would take 2 blocks and one dodge.

When playing other early teams, you can place it deep. Not all teams have a surehands player at this point and a missed pickup can mean a quick score.

Also, kick helps you beat the cage. If you can flood the backfield you will force a lot of blocking, and not necessarily where he wants to do it. Unless you are playing Norse or Dwarves, this will also cause early turnovers, again in early teams.

And it prevents touchbacks, in which they can hand it to thier str 4 or str 5 player, that DE's are ill equiped to deal with.

Lastly, a Blitz, pitch Invasion, thrown rock, or even just a poor offensive setup can lead to a quick recovery of a well placed ball.

Kick has saved me in more early career games than any amount of blocking.

Kick also has a big impact on the way a bashy team plays. If an Orc team is lining up offence against a team with Kick, then they generally have to keep more players in the backfield to cover the ball, and that means fewer players attacking your side of the pitch.

david13, yours skills depend what your other players have, and also what kind of opponents you have to face...

A 'standard' choice in my opinion would be kick, dodge and block, or even kick, and 2 x dodge.
However, if you regularly face dwarves, you may as well stick to block instead of dodge.

I prefer choosing dodge as I try to move my players around to score as much as possible, and slow down my opponents' running play when I am defending.

Block is adequate for a war of attrition, but I try not to go for that with elves, at least not when my teams are starting. With nobody with an armour value above 8, and no access to strength skills (I'm thinking of guard) I've realised that dark elves are not really the guys to throw blocks with all the time... - don't get fooled by their access to four blitzers!

The block skill is handy, but I'd first get a fair amount of players with dodge (except in a league dominated by dwarves obviously...) to have a really mobile team that can score easily, and make it as hard as possible for any types of opponents to score...

I like to get dodge first on my line elves and then follow it up with block. When I roll a double I go ahead and get leader and that players next skill is kick.

Agree with AT. Kick is very useful for DE's. Block then essential and personally after that I give them Dodge. Buggers to take down giving you tactical freedom.
