Why take Blitzers when you have Longbeards?

I played my first game of Bloodbowl tonight. It was a practice for the league we are starting. It was Dwarves (me) vs Amazons. I noticed my Lonbeards' Tackle skill first caused the 'zons to use up rerolls, then start causing turnovers. Those guys are great!

Compared to Blitzers, they have one less movement and the Tackle skill. They also cost 10k less. Is there any reason to go with a Blitzer? I know the movement is nice, but I noticed that when the game got gritty, I did much better with a less mobile, more violent game. I was concentrating on assists to take out his team. I took out 3 of them in the first half alone!

Blitzers seam weak....what am I missing?

My runners and Slayers did very well for themselves. Frenzy rocks!

The blitzers and runners are the only players that have a 3 AG. So for 10k more, you are getting an extra movement and an extra AG point and giving up tackle.

that +1 to movement is very nice to have, especially combined with a player who has block to start with...It's very helpful if a faster player breaks thru your lines, or you find yourself needing to re-position at all..

Also, Tackle isn't that hard to pick up, and it really lets the Blitzers shine..

Believe me, you need all the AG3 players you can get. Dwarfs are the slowest team around, so you definetely need the MA aswell.

Hmmn. It's nice to use long beards to take out Zons but sometimes I like to put that little round thing in their endzone too.

You need people to hold the ball. It's very easy to take out the runners, and once they are off the pitch, you really don't want to have to try picking up the ball with longbeards.

Also, your longbeards are at their best against 'zons. Against other opponents, tackle is less exciting.

You don't need Blitzers,... at least if you think that two ball handlers without Block are enough for you.

Concerning tackle, apart from Amazons, Lizardmen and Goblins you'll face only 2-3 players with dodge on other teams (that means teams that have played 5-7 games).

Except for runners, blitzers are the only players you got who has ag3 and they are also a bit faster which helps a lot.
But against amazons i must agree longbeards are better as they got tackle.

i agree, that increased AG is helpful, and tackle is only useful against some teams.

Ahh, I see. I will keep the Blitzers then! Those Longbeards put a beating on the Amazons, though. Almost had me fooled.
