i know there was i thread on this but i can't find it. picked up an unpainted WE team and thinking about using them as pro elfs (not thrilled with the new figures but that's just me, i know many are)

what do you think of the following as a starting line up:

# blitzer
# thrower
# catcher
# linemen 8
# apoth.
# rr (2)
# ff 9

any suggestions for skills/team development

finally, how do you think they compare in general to the WEs

Personally I went for:

10 Linemen @ 600k
1 Blitzer @ 110k
3 RR's @ 150k
9 FF @ 90k
1 Apoth @ 50k

The large amount of Linemen allow the SPP's to get spread around rather than the positional players hogging them, while the apothecary ensures (hopefully!) that the blitzer won't get killed in his first match, when generally happens :)

You can afford a replacement player lineman normally after the first game, or save up for your positionals which you should be able to get after game two, though you might get a thrower after game one.

I generally don't like starting with less than 3 re-rolls unless the team has a lot of skills to re-roll dice with (Humans, Orcs etc). You can actually have a high re-roll roster if you swap the blitzer to a lineman and drop the apothecary giving you 5 re-rolls, though you're asking a lot from the linemen in the first few games.

Keep in mind, 60k for a 6347 player is great value, so don't worry too much about them dying :)

I would go for something like
9 linemen
2 blitzers
3 rerolls
9 ff
no apo

or
8 linemen
1 catcher
2 blitzers
2 rerolls
9 ff
no apo
(leaves you 10k towards buying an apo, not sure if that's allowed though)

It is a risk to start without the apo, but if you start with to many lineman you'll have trouble scoring. They have only move 6. Buy the apo immediately. Buy the apoth first. Do not buy new lineman soon, even if you can only field 10 man or less. Save up for positionals.

i tried the 2 blitzer 3 rr setup on fumbbl. it didnt work, as half my team died w/in 3 matches. then i tried loading it w/ 2 blitzers and 2 catchers. i went from having 11 useable players in game 1 all the way until game 8 before i had 11 to start a game w/. basically, these guys suck. or my luck sucks. or my opponents luck is always too good. or some combination thereof, im sure. my most recent attempt has 11 line, 4 rrs and an apoth. im still waiting to finish my first match w/ them, but ive managed to get spps on 9 of my 11 elves w/ no one dying. yet. :roll:

they're expensive like dark elves but not as strong. they die like wood elves but arent as fast. i really dont think the extra skill on the blitzers and catchers is worth having a -av on the rest of the team. and although 60k does give you quite a bit of breathing room on the starting roster, they're still overpriced according to the cost formula.

last but not least, the minis look like gay eurotrash biker wannabes.

I only started winning after buying my third Movement 7 player with the darkelves...so if you want to win from the start...

Well than dwarfs suck too! My pbembbl Dwarf Team had 5 deaths till now and after 6 games teamrating is 119. I played 3 games with 11 players. 1 with 6 and 2 with 8...
